I wondered if it was normal to have the underside of both kings signed on these sets.
Charles Hastilow was a 19c ivory turner with premises at Peter St. and Sun St. or possibly Peter St. off Sun St. London. I am endebted to Mr Jon Crumiller for his work on finding this information. My best guess is that this is Indian, but I would want a look at the screw threads to be sure.
Some signatures
