Siem reap has a heap of temples with a very unique ambience. Even after being 'templed out' in Thailand, these still have a lot to offer
You'll need a driver as it is a few km between temples.

A lake, full of fish and covered with edibles too. The tubers on these lilies get used, as do the roots and pods.
The local drop. Angkor Beer. Served with ice, the way beer should be! (?) Those who live in Asia or travel Asia will understand. The rest will shake their heads sadly.

This was a sour citrusy soup - not as spicy or salty as Thai soup - more of a sweet sour character.
These huts are on the houses and rice farms all along the road between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. They are made from the waste "rice-grass" after the rice harvest. Good for shelter, and the buffaloes eat the hut.

The river snails, done with kaffir lime, lemongrass and chilli. They come served in a "nam jim" sauce of lime, chilli and fish sauce.

This is amazing! The Amok fish at Kings Court Happy Pizza on Sisowath Quay. $4.50, this is large, juicy, succulent tranches of catfish on a bed of lemon leaves, with a delicious spiced coconut curry sauce. A national dish of Cambodia. This is the best I tried.

The city is old and drab in parts, colourful and interesting in others. Mostly full of charm and interest.
