What a great party we had on Dec. 10. Annette and David were outstanding hosts. There was a recent record attendance of 42 people. Commodore Dave successfully passed the tiller to new Commodore Todd. Dave was recognized with a signed copy of Chapman's book and was also honored with the Stough Award.Gift exchange was a lot of fun. Gary was stolen from the most times but still got his fish, while Michael lost the beer AND the rum (but got neat t-shirt.) Photos by Clay and Cheryl.

November Chili Cookoff Cruise: Many thanks to Carl and Michelle, who hosted an outstanding Chili Contest Cruise at the expanding Starnes Island. In attendance were four boats and 13 sailors. Lake level 626.4'. Winds 10 to 20 from the south and the high temp was near 80. It was a beautiful autumn day.

On 10/15/11, when Travis was at 628.5', Sometimes Island became a Peninsula. Thirteen fleet members hiked the 2 miles from Mansfield Dam Park to the endpoint, where they were met by 3 boats and sailors. Terrain varied from mud to rocky to flat gravel to grassy meadows. We had a picnic on the beach. On the hike back, we were met by 2 more boats, 3 sailors, and a dog. It was a fun and hot sunny day. Now, please rain on our lake!

2011-09-Breakfast

The annual Breakfast Cruise was held on the shores of Travis Landing Park. At lake level 631', it was an excellent location. Thanks to our terrific hosts Clay, Robert, and Joe (in absentia). Thanks also to Dave for reserving the park and providing lines and shore equipment for all. We had 22 people and 4 sailboats. Three boats and a tent spent the evening. Temperatures were "only" in the 90's and dry. It was yet another greatly enjoyable Breakfast Cruise! Now, let it rain! (Photos by Cheryl, John O, and Salvador)

The lake was down to 637.7' and the temperatures have been above 100 for 58 days, so we opted for a different form of sailing. Thanks to the creativity of our hosts, Todd and Patti, 26 of us met at their home for a Pool Regatta. We each decorated a model sailboat and launched her in the pool. With wind provided from our lungs, it was a test of lung capacity, sea worthiness, skill, and lots of luck. It was a lot of fun and a theme that will need to be repeated.

The 4th Annual Flor de Caña Rum Cruise was hosted by Salvador and Nina. The lake was shrinking to 649', so we went to a newly formed cove near mile marker 11, between Arkansas Bend and Paradise Cove on the “eastern” shore. The sun was hot and the wind was mild. Eight boats and 22 sailors swam and feasted on marinated pork, rice, cole slaw, and more.

Taking advantage of the falling lake level and revelation of new coves, the cruise was held at Longhorn Landing, Lake Travis. Gracious hosts Dave and Diane went to great efforts with truck, golf cart, row boat, kayak, C22, stakes, shelter, not to mention a feast of Chinese foods, to make this a fun and exciting cruise. Well, they can't take too much credit for the excitement, for the 15 to 30 mph winds took care of that. Norma and Clay won the best Dragon Boat/Food contest. Lake level was 651.9'. Four boats and 13 people were in attendance. Only 2 boats, that we know of, ran aground.

The sun was shining and the breeze was light, as fleet sailboats approached Starnes Island for the first ever "Photo Op Cruise," where fleet boats could sail by and have their pictures taken. Robert (and Sheila, indirectly) hosted this novel-themed cruise. Afternoon winds were only around 5 knots, so some boats had to use special methods to fill the sails. About 4 boats were photographed. Afterwards, ten sailors, three sailboats and the fishing boat anchored in Barry's Cove (661') for snacks. As evening approached, we enjoyed a very pleasant sail as the sun was setting and the 97% moon was rising. Photos by Cheryl, Todd, John G, Robert.

It was the "Sailing of the Green" on Lake Travis. Ten boats and 23 sailors enjoyed a few hours of sailing in winds 14-20, followed by a raft-up in Barry's Cove. 664.83'. We all enjoyed Irish Stew and green'licious food. Then we thoroughly enjoyed "Singing of the Green" by Joy. The grande finale was the greatly anticipated Rising of the Moon. March 4-6, 2011, eighteen friends and family joined Bob and Karen in Corpus Christi and Rockport, to wish them a Bon Voyage and to sail on a charter boat. On Saturday, winds were in the high 20's with gusts to 40, so there was no sailing (just touring). On Sunday, the weather was perfect for a proper send-off and sailing on Corpus Christi Bay.

February Valentine's Cruise: It was a perfect day for sailing. Temps were in the 70's, winds and sunshine were a-plenty. At lake level 666.38', Barry's Cove was a good place to be. The weather was cold most of the month of January, so our January Cruise was held at the Austin Boat Show and the Mongolian Grill. Twelve or thirteen fleet members were there. November Birthday Cruise: It turned out to be a beautiful autumn day for sailing on Lake Travis, with temperatures around 60 and sunny. There was a pretty good north wind early on that required 3 anchors, but it later dropped off. John and Ann Marie hosted the cruise, with 7 boats and 13 sailors (and a dog) in attendance. Wine, cheese, grapes, and chocolate were had by all, followed by birthday cake and the sing-along. Ask Clay about the "Red Wine" incident. Lake level 669'. Photos by Ann Marie, Carl, and Clay.

Starting on Frirday, Oct 15, five boats and 11 sailors set sail (or motor) for the upper regions of Lake Travis. The first night was at Turnback Canyon. On Saturday, 4 boats continued to Mile 45, Turkey Bend Park. There they were met by 8 others who came by land, and all enjoyed a wonderful BBQ dinner prepared by Robert and Sheila. Catalina Breakfast Cruise. Sat. 9/11 - Sun 9/12. Many thanks to our dedicated hosts, Clay, Joe, and Joy for yet another successful Breakfast Cruise. At lake level 671.95', Arkansas Bend was quite comfortable for the 7 boats (6 overnight), 2 cars, and 15 sailors. Daytime temperatures were in the low 90's, overnight near 80, and the winds were good enough for sailing part of the time. Photos by Cheryl, John, and Clay.

Too hot to sail at 102 degrees, so the Fleet feasted on egg rolls and Chinese dishes cooked by Norma and crew at Sue's spacious home. A well-fed crew of 32 attended. Lake Level was 668.8'.

Third Annual Flor de Caña Rum Cruise. Salvador and Nina hosted very enjoyable, delicious, entertaining, and spirited cruise with a Nicaraguan theme. The weather cooperated very nicely, with temps in the 90's and winds 10-15. Lake level was 675.4'. In attendance were 10 boats, 18 members, and 16 guests. We were served grilled pork tenderloin, ensalada de repollo, plantains, yucca, tortillas, fruit, upside-down pineapple cake, and Flor de Caña rum. We had calypso and marimba music with Lane's dancing girls. If we weren't eating or sailing, we were swimming, and it was a wonderful day to do it all ! Photos by Cheryl and Robert (RCA)

It was a beautiful day for dragons, tigers, and Catalina sailors, as we all gathered in Barry's Cove for the fleets first-ever Dragon Boat Cruise. Hosts Dave and Dianne led the festivities with authentic dumplings, music, and decorations. Phyllis won first prize for the best-decorated boat. Six boats and 15 sailors attended. The south-easterly winds were brisk at 15-20 knots, which made the 90 degrees seem cooler. It was great day to sail and finally have a fleet cruise on the water.

Forecasters predicted winds 20-30 knots and temperatures near 50 degrees, so we opted for an indoor St Patrick's Day cruise this month. Fourteen sailors gathered at the home of Bob and Karen, where Gary and Paulette provided the main dish of Corned Beef Sandwiches, and others brought "green food." It was a good time to socialize and listen to Irish Music. Some of us played the nautical game "Shut the Box." Others played pool. It was fun for everyone!

On the best-weather day so far this decade, six boats and sixteen sailors sailed to Barry's Cove for January's "Crazy Clay's Chili Catalina Cruise". The sun was shining, the high temperature was around 65, and the winds varied from 0 to 12. Barry's Cove was narrow at 657'. We had at least 7 types of chili plus sides! 2009 Holiday Party on December 12: Robert and Sheila were once again gracious hosts as they opened their home to All Catalina Fleet 69. Thirty-six fleet members and their guests attended (and 3 cats.) It was a wonderful way to wrap up the sailing year.

2009-11 Corpus Christi Charter

A crew of 8 sailed a Catalina 387 across Corpus Christi bay to Port Aransas on Saturday, Nov 21 and came back Sunday, Nov 22. It rained hard several times Friday on the drive to Corpus Christi. Saturday was gray, cold, and windy; exciting for sailing. Sunday was clear blue skies, warm sunshine, but no wind; great for motoring.

2009-10 Oktoberfest

On Oct 10, 2009, 3 boats and 14 sailors anchored on the south side of what-is-now "Sometimes Point." Lake level is 631.1 feet and the Sometimes Islands have merged and are connected to Mansfield Dam Park. The weather was overcast and cool (60's), even tho a recent forecast was 70's and "gorgeous." It was a nice autumn day, and a good break from the 100 degree weather (68 days) this summer. We had good German sausage, sauerkraut, excellent apple desserts, German cheese, etc. Oh, beer, too. It was ein schoen tag.

2009-09-Non-Breakfast Cruise

Sept 13, 2009. This should have been our annual Breakfast Cruise at Arkansas bend, but with the lake dropping below 630' and a threat of thunderstorms, we changed plans and met at John O's lake house in Travis Landing, just south of AYC. It was an ideal location where we could be near the water, watch the occasional showers and survey the shoreline. 28 people attended. Two boats with 8 people went sailing anyways, and came later to the party. A good time was had by all!

2009-08 August Fajita Land Cruise

Happy Fleet 69 members gathered at Pat and Charles' home for a fajita festival. Grilled beef and chicken was prepared by Joe L. Side dishes included fresh guacamole dip, tomatoes, bean salad, crispy won ton, flan dessert, and more (see pictures). 23 attended. Photos are by Clay. Lake Level average for the month was 634.3'.

2009-08 Sometimes Walk

On Saturday, August 1st, when Lake Travis was at 636.91', CatFleet69 sailors walked and swam from Mansfield Dam Park to the end of the almost-peninsula of Sometimes Island. 15 swam and walked, 2 came by boat, and 3 decided to wait 3 more feet (water was 6' in the first channel). It took us 3.5 hours start to finish. It seemed strange to walk where there is normally 30' more of water, but it was great fun. Now let it rain!

2009-07-Iguana

It's been over 100 for over 31 days and the lake is at 639.27, so rather than gazing at the stars in the dark and dodging the shallows, the fleet went to the Iguana Grill, on the cliffs overlooking Arkansas Bend. Sixteen sailors were there and we swapped good stories and plans! We tried a rain dance, but so far, no result. Keep trying!

On 6/21/09, seven ladies sailed on Sheila's Catalina 250 "Flying Cloud." At lake level 646.6', we had to watch out for low water. It was very hot (100 degrees) but there was a nice breeze, 5 to 15 from the SE. We sailed upwind, downwind, anchored, swam, ate, pulled up the anchor, and motored back to Dodd Street Docks. A great time was had by all and we all agreed to do it again!

2009-06-Luau Cruise

Gary and Paulette hosted this Hawaiian Paradise Luau on the north shore of Arkansas Bend. At lake level 649.1, the beach was wide and the waters were deep. We had good shade, an abundance of food and drink, island music, swimming, conversation, and overall a wonderful time. 26 attendees. 8 boats, 6 land yachts. 4 boats stayed the night. Turnback Canyon Regatta, May 23-24, 2009. Two fleet boats participated: Catalina 30 “Watercolors” and Catalina 250 “Flying Cloud.” Lake level 652'. Winds were light and variable. The Flor de Caña Cruise was hosted by Salvador and Nina on Sunday, May 17. We cruised to the Sometimes Islands, which were quite visible at 653.3'. The day was cool (low 70's) and winds were pleasant (10-15). Turnout was excellent, with 10 boats and 23 sailors. We feasted on Nicaraguan pork and fixings, and tasted Flor de Cana rum. We all had a great time. Gracias mucho!

April 11 Marine Swap Meet and Cruise: The sky was overcast and threatening to rain, but several sellers, many buyers (including 17 fleet members) showed up at the first ever Swap Meet at Dodd Street Docks. Co-sponsors were our fleet and the Dodd Street Docks Marina. Buying and selling occurred, and the event was judged a success. By mid-afternoon, the air temperature was barely 60, winds were flukey, and there were sporadic showers. Seven of us went to Cafe Blue, a restaurant overlooking Sandy Creek on Lime Creek Rd. The funicular entertained several of us. We ate well, while enjoying a panoramic view of the disappearing Sandy Creek, at lake level 653.3'.

2009-03-St Pats

March 2009 Cruise: Bring a Shamrock and a Novice. It was an "Éirinn go Brách" afternoon in Barry's Cove on Saturday, March 21, when seven boats sailed and rafted up in Barry's Cove (654.5'). There were 17 sailors, including 4 novices. Robert cooked up a pot of delicious Irish Stew, and others brought green sides. Sheila gave us all a short quiz on St Patrick's Day trivia, and drew winners from a hat. There were several Irish-themed prizes, such as a St Patrick's coin and a medallion of St. Brendon, the patron of sailors and navigators. After the cruise, most boats raised their sails. It was a beautiful day with temperatures around 80 and breezes that varied from 5 to 12. It was a "top of the afternoon" cruise, and many thanks to our hosts!

On Sunday, February 15, the sun was shining, the temperatures were cool (60's), and the winds were brisk (10-18) when five boats and 14 sailors sailed to the shrinking Barry's Cove. Lake level was 654.5'. We worked up appetites by dropping anchors 3 times from one boat and 2 times from another, with 4 boats enjoined. Eventually, the anchors took hold on the rocky sloped north shore of Barry's Cove Point. We then dined on a delicious baked potato buffet, thanks to hosts Karen and Bob. For desserts, what else? Fleet favorite “chocolate and cherries.” The winds held up and we all enjoyed very pleasant sailing back to our marinas.

On January 10, with temperatures in the 50's, winds in the 20's, and lake level 655.6', the first fleet cruise of 2009 was held at the rebuilt Oasis Restaurant, overlooking Lake Travis. Twenty-one sailors gathered to dine on Mexican fare, catch up on recent news, and make plans for the coming year. Salvador and Nina arranged it all, and the year was off to a great start!

2008 F69 Holiday

It was a festive and nautical night as thirty-one members of All Catalina Fleet 69 and their guests gathered at the home of Charles and Pat. Our hosts were gracious and the feast was fantastic. Commodore John recognized all who contributed to the fleet's activities in 2008, and installed the 2009 officers. The Stough Award was awarded to Sheila for her innumerable contributions to the fleet over the past few years. The gift exchange was quite lively. It was a fun-filled evening, and we look forward to more fun in 2009!

2008 November Tahiti

We intended to sail to Sometimes Islands and enjoy a Tahiti-style afternoon, but a cold front blew in and put a chill on the plans. Winds were around 20 with gusts to 30 or 50, so we accepted Robert and Sheila's generous offer and land-cruised to their home. Fifteen of us enjoyed an afternoon of tropical sandwiches, fruits, and treats. We all had a good time, and look forward to a nice hot day in 2009 when we can try again!

2008 Oktoberfest

The 2008 Oktoberfest Cruise was held near the shrinking Barry' Cove (657.6'). There were 7 boats at anchor, plus one "sail-by" and 20 hungry sailors (plus 3). Winds were 5-10, air temp was in the 80's, and the water was a pleasant 78. Bob and Karen hosted the cruise with plenty of bratwurst. Sailors brought sauerkraut, homemade potato pancakes, german chocolate cake, salads, and German wine and beer. Add a near-full moon to all that, and it was the perfect formula for a very relaxing and enjoyable October afternoon and evening on Lake Travis. The pleasant breeze allowed most of us to sail to and from the anchorage.

2008 Breakfast Cruise - Cheryl

At lake level 659', the shoreline of Arkansas Bend north cove was very comfortable for several stoves, chairs, sailors, and even a truck. Getting from the boats and cars to the food was a bit of a challenge. Eighteen sailors attended (11 spent the night). There were 8 boats (7 spent the night) and 4 vehicles (one spent the night.) Chefs extradinaire, Joe and Clay, and their able assistants, served up a delicious breakfast fare. The night before, Joy serenade the fleet with her beautiful voice and guitar. Sailing winds were excellent on Saturday. Sunday morning it was quite calm and the temperatures were pleasant. It was another successul Breakfast Cruise!

2008 Breakfast Cruise - Clay

The annual Catalina Fleet 69 Breakfast Cruise, co-hosted by Clay and Joe and Joy, set a new benchmark of 7 overnight boats, 1 morning sail-in, and 4 drive-ins for a total of 18 attendees. Light breezes made for poor sailing coming and going, but the cool night temperature was great for sleeping. As usual it was a great menu of pan cakes with all the toppings, sausages, scrambled eggs, orange juice, and fresh brewed camp coffee. Lake level 659'.

2008 August Flor de Cana

Thanks to Salvador for these pictures. He and Nina hosted this wonderful cruise on a pleasant August evening in the shrinking Barry's Cove (661.9'). 21 sailors on 9 anchored/rafted boats feasted on a delicious variety of Nicaraguan food and beverages. They had grilled pork tenderloin marinated in achiote and other spices, Ensalada de Repollo (coleslaw), boiled green plantains, and tortillas. Robert brought delicious home-made pico de gallo from his garden. Others brought salads and finger foods. They sipped Flor de Caña rum and visited for a while, but then the skies got grey and looked like rain. Many left in a hurry! However, Bob, Karen, Phyllis, Patrick, Lane, guest, Salvador, and Nina stayed. They got a few drops of rain and not much wind. Salvador talked about Nicaragua's geography, history, marinas, and beaches. Night was cool and clear. Two boats spent the evening and learned why stars twinkle. Morning was peaceful. Sailors headed back to marinas around 10:00 AM.

2008 August Wok N Roll Dinner

Wok 'n Roll Fleet 69 August Land Cruise 2008. Norma went stir crazy cooking us a Chinese banquet assisted by in the kitchen by Clay, Phyllis and Patrick. 2008 July Cruise

July 13 Cruise: It was almost 100 degrees and the winds were light, so six boats and 15 sailors motor/sailed to Barry's Cove for a Fruity Cruise. We did a lot of swimming. Barry's Cove is now at 666.25', but there was still plenty of water for everyone. We feasted on chicken salad, watermelon, cantaloupe, and other tasty delights. The winds almost picked up afterwards, and some boats sailed and some motored back to their marinas, while witnessing yet another beautiful Lake Travis sunset.

2008 July Ladies

On a pleasant and breezy Friday afternoon (July 11), seven ladies set sail on Karen's Catalina 30, "Water Colors." (Karen, Phyllis, Cheryl, Jane, Joy, Sue F, and guest Barbara.) We sailed to Cypress Creek, Windy Point, and then to Barry's Cove. We dropped anchor (and it held) and cooled off in the 83 degree water. Then we "snacked" on gazpacho, sushi, dolmanti's, and various dips. The anchor came up without too much trouble, and we sailed / motored back to the marina in wind gusts that exceeded 20 knots. We all had a wonderful time, and plan to do it again on a weekend so the working-ladies can join us! . 666.25'

2008 June Travis Cruise

On June 21-23, Fleet 69 boats sailed up the lake to see what was beyond Lago Vista. They went all the way to The Narrows, near mile marker 53. (To compare, Starnes Island is mm 7 and the Pedernales River is mm 37.) They weathered 2 storms, heat, and sunshine, but found the upper waters of Lake Travis to be quiet, relaxing, and natural. Lake level was 670'.

2008 Turnback Canyon Regatta

The AYC May 24-25 Turnback Canyon Regatta included several Fleet 69 boats racing up and back from Lago Vista. Pictures are by Clay crewing on Keith's C27 "Sweet Sue" which won 1st place in nonspinnaker keel class. Also sailing were Robert's C250 "Flying Cloud" and Gary"s C30 "Somewhere in Time" and Robert/Karen's C30 MKII "Watercolors." The winds were grand this year. Lake level was around 677'.

2008 May Cruise

The “Tax Extension BBQ Cruise” sailors met in Barry's Cove on a hot and sunny day in May. Five boats and 13 sailors were there, including Clay, Gary, Phyllis, Patrick, Steve, Cheryl, Salvadore, Nina, Robert, Sheila, and 3 guests. The lake was at 677' and warm enough for a “refreshing” swim. Winds were moderate to light, which allowed most boats to turn off the iron wind and do some real sailing. We ate lots of BBQ plus fixings. Phyllis then gave us a quiz, to see how much we remember about taxes. It was fun, but it's a good thing most of us don't do taxes for a living! We then pulled up anchor and enjoyed a delightful sail or motor back to our marinas. There was a threat of rain, but it never really materialized.

2008 April Cruise

It was a sunny and windy day, with temps in the 70's and winds in the teens with gusts to 28. LL 678.93' average. Eighteen sailors on six boats either finished their taxes, filed extensions, procrastinated, or didn't care. We sailed to Barry's Cove and tied up to Bob and Karen's "new" C30. Lane arrived on his "new" C22. We had plenty of food, including beans & franks, po-boy sandwiches, bbq, deviled eggs, tortellini roasted peppers k-bobs, fruit, and brownies. Since it was a taxing theme, Keith offered the shirt off his back, and Sue an arm and a leg.

2008 St. Patrick's Day Cruise

All green cruise for St. Patrick's Day with 7 boats including two new ones: Lane's C22 and Robert and Karen's 1994 C30 MKIII named "Watercolors." Sunny sky, moderate breeze from NE to E, and above 80 temperatures. Average lake level for March 2008 was 680.85'.

2008 February Cruise

The February 2008 "Leap into Sailing" Cruise featured an on-board version of "Sailing Pictionary." Seventeen sailors on 8 boats sailed to the challenge in Barry's Cove, on a beautiful February day, with temps around 70, light air, and partial sunshine. Lake level was around 682'.

2008 January

It was a beautiful January day with temperatures in the upper 60's. Despite 20 mph wind gusts with white caps, the sunny, cool weather lured 8 boats and 25 people to raft up in Barry's Cove 682' for the Hot Chocolate Retirement Attire Cruise. This was in celebration of Cheryl's retirement from corporate life, so several wore what they would wear in retirement. After a fun time and the winds calmed down, we all had pleasant reaches and run homes with a golden sunset. Life is Good.

2007 Old Man and the Sea

On 11/17/07, eight boats and 23 sailors sailed to Barry's Cove for a Surprise 80th Birthday Party for Keith, our "Old Man and the Sea." Keith first sailed when he was 10, 70 years ago! Sue hosted the party with Catfish and Hush Puppies, and a beautiful "photo cake." We all had a great time and were glad to enjoy this special time with our venerated sailor! Catalina Fleet 69 members had a private reception at the West Marine store on Research Blvd. Manager Peter Avlogitos demostrated the features and benefits for several handheld Garmin GPS models and ICON portable radios, a key benefit being that they float! Mangia's pizza was a tasty treat.

2007OktoberCruise

The Fleet celebrated German culture (mostly beer and wine) with a splendid, sunny day in Barry's Cove (680.7'). Winds were exhilarating at 10 to 15 mph, especially on the way home at sunset. Air and water temperatures were still warm. There were three kinds of chocolate cake, plenty of bratwurst, cabbage, sauerkraut, and potato salad. A wunderbar cruise!

2007 Ladies' Cruise

The 2007 Ladies' Cruise was the soggiest and the most fun ever. Most parts of Austin received no rain, but the clouds dumped the rain on Lake Travis and the UT Game. Nonetheless, we optimistically set motor and sail from Dodd St Docks, and headed to the highlines. Showing excellent boat handling skills, we unfurled and furled the sail, started and stopped the motor. As the storm strengthened, we headed back to the docks, where the skies temporarily cleared and we enjoyed our snacks, including Scotch Meatballs! 11 Ladies and one dog (a girl, of course) attended. Many thanks to Sheila for the use of her boat, and to Phyllis for organizing the event!

2007 Breakfast Cruise

The Annual Breakfast Cruise has been happening for about 20 years now, and if one judges by the weather, location, food, and company, the 2007 Breakfast Cruise was definitely one of the sweetest. Sept 15-16. On Saturday evening, Joy serenaded and delighted us with her guitar and beautiful voice. On Sunday morning, Joe and Clay presented us with a feast of scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, mimosas, and coffee. At lake level 682.2, we had a pretty good spot in the north cove of Arkansas Bend. Seven boats, one tent, 15 sailors. We all had a wonderful time! Photos by Cheryl.

Breakfast Cruise 2007 #2

30th Birthday Water Cruise

On 8/25/07, 6 boats, 18 people, and one dog met in Barry's Cove to celebrate on the water, the 30th Anniversary of the founding of Austin Catalina Fleet 69. The lake was nice and full at 685'. Winds 5-10, Air temp 95, and water temp 85. Lots of food. Lots of conversations. Lots of fun. To top it all off, it was a beautiful almost-full moon-lit evening. No one wanted to leave, but around 10:30 pm, the last boat lifted anchor.
