Although coach Gordon IGESUND´s playas created many chances and enjoyed 70% of ball possession, Norway`s negative defence and delay tactics let them win 1-0. Tomorrow, in their last prep match, BAFANA can really pack a punch in front of goal when they meet ALGERIA at Orlando stadium. The North Africans last graced our Cape shores in 2010, holding ENGLAND to a credible World Cup draw. Tomorrow also sees birthday party of Cape music and drumming legend, JOE PETERSEN. Action started at 10.30 and lasted to 5.30pm on cool and overcast yet sunny day. TEAM KILIMANJARO took lead when TEAM CAMEROON lost their keeper: A rampant KHAYELITSHA UTD climbed to 2nd on log but lost their semi-final to CAMEROON 2-1. Overall winners KILIMANJARO dipsatched of Best-U-19 squad, TEAM RETREAT, 4-0 in other Semi. Last weekend`s 2-Oceans womens` race went to Russian twins Olesya and Elena Nurgaliewa in 3 hrs 33 m. 3rd and 1st African lady over line was Lesotho runner Mamorato Tjoka. Lusapho April won the 21kms in 1 hr 4 m, while womens` Half went to Namibian Helalia Johannes ahead of Irvettte van Bleek More than 20 000 fans and runners jammed the UCT fields. Dear Readers, Playas, Musos, end of January saw 2 major events in Cape Town, creating impression as if 2011 was already well under way. On Saturday, 29-1, Cape Town`s own classic street drummer and singer, Joe Petersen,called for his 59th birthday bash. We had already worked together in organising his 5oth in 2002. Well-known Jazz greats like Gary Kriel, Dany Butler, Lungile and Michael Martin accompanied the master, and so did many other invited guests. Joe has produced 3 CDs over the years. They are all worth listening and dancing to. On Friday, 28-1, it was a PSL double-header at the new Cape Town Stadium. First, newly-promoted VASCO DA GAMA overcame the ARROWS from KZN with a spirited showing. Defender Tsotetsi headed in the winning goal. Then AJAX beat strugglers SWALLOWS 2-0 and underlined their title aspirations. Goals came from Carelse and Serero. PART 1 Dear Friends of 2010, the 19th FIFA World Cup was the 1st in Africa vice-versa in South Africa. The hosts had prepared it diligently and in record time: eg, construction of brandnew and semi-roofed Cape Town stadium only began in August of 2007. By kick-off on 11 June, 2010, all 10 stadiums stood ready to receive the footie fraternity. 2ND PEACE CUP FOR 6ASIDE TEAMS

OMARY ABEID MWANDO was born on 3.9.1983 in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania. He is a right-footed striker with shoe size 10 and a powerful right kick. OMARY has good pace and can fetch balls in midfield to drive attack. He joined 2nd division club Express FC after primary school and made the first team when he was 16. In 2000, his uncle sponsored OMARY to enrol at FC Santos Fonchas Bamanda Academy in north-west Cameroon. He stayed 5 years and joined 1st division club Mtibwa Sugar on his return home, scoring 9 goals in 15 games. In April of 2010 he came to Cape Town for trials with Hanover Park. A delay in issuing work permits prevented him from playing for the team. His permit is now sorted out and he is ready for trials with top clubs. DEAR FRIENDS OF 2010, The CAPE amateur season ended last Friday with the Coke Cup Final. As curtainraiser to the local derby the annual CAPE LFA`s Crown, worth R 30 000, was up for grabs. Isaac Mbembe`s MASIPHUMELELE UNITED played Gugulethu`s JL ZWANE. MASI UTD took an early lead by Vusumzi LISA, while Sinethemba DIYATYI dominated the left and Sipho MNGXWATI the rite flank. But when LISA was substituted and the left wing changed to defensive midfield, ZWANE JL, managed by Edwin SIDLOYI, took the 2nd half. They equalised via Lunga MBUSI. A fatal penalty miss by Anele BALISO gave victory to the men from Gugs, who looked fitter. DEAR FRIENDS OF WORLD CUP 2010, on Sunday, 11 July, 4 weeks of socca madness came to a glorious end with the Final between SPAIN and HOLLAND. The ORANJE chose rough over efficient tactix, and then lost defender HEITINGA to a red card in extra-time. Together with coach VAN MARWYK' s controversial sub of captain VAN BRONCKHORT, these side-steps turned SPAIN into the deserved winners. The SPANISH passing game may be a bit dour, but it wins the Iberians titles, which is what counts in world football. At CAPE TOWN' s GRAND PARADE FAN FEST, a 21-gun salute, a thanx from mayor Dan PLATO to all contributors, and bright fireworx ended off colourful festivities. CAPE TOWN fans also presented their street socca skills in 2 courts outside the Drill Hall. LIEBE FREUNDE DER WM 2010, die grossen FLOPS in der Vorrunde waren FRANKREICH, ITALIEN, KAMERUN, NIGERIA und AUSTRALIEN. Sowohl Thierry HENRY fuer die "Blauen" wie Andrea PIRLO fuer die "Azzuris" sind einfach ueberaltert, wahrend Peter CROUCH fuer ENGLAND erst gar nicht zum Einsatz kam. CONGRATS to the CITY for good running of these footie events, including MyCITI shuttles which ferried 73 000 fans between Civic Centre and Stadium. The rain drove down hard and the new stadium drainage system worked wonders; there was no flooding on the grass! The match ended a draw after a 1-0 lead by PARAGUAY through defender Antolin ALCARAZ, and the equaliser by ITALY' s Daniele DE ROSSI. There were more than 20 000 fans at the Grand Parade Fan Park.The refurbishments at railway station have just been finished in time.The Dedicated Bus Lanes for shuttles between City Centre and Stadium in Green Point are working, too. England legend John Barnes gave a singalong at the Convention Centre while the Vuvuzela concert at a packed stadium for FRANCE-URUGUAY game was very impressive. The FINAL DRAW for the 2010 WORLD CUP is on us. All 32 qualifiers and their coaches will be present at this 19th DRAW in the CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE. CAPE TOWN is only the 2nd location hosting the DRAW in a CONVENTION CENTRE; in 1993 LAS VEGAS used its centre for the US WORLD CUP. Thanx to latest broadcasting technology, the SHOW on Friday evening will be transmitted live to 200 countries, 40 more than during the 2005 DRAW in Leipzig, Germany. The first televised DRAW, then still with 16 teams in 4 pools, was held in LONDON for the 1966 ENGLAND WORLD CUP. The only time that the DRAW went into an actual SOCCA STADIUM, watched live by 38 000 people, was in 1997 at MARSEILLE' S STADE DE VELODROME. CAPE.SOCCA.UNION: CAPE TOWN PEACE CUP ON 22 NOV

What the PSL couldn`t organise with a Rand 5 Million budget, the CAPE.SOCCA.UNION did with R 1500. We put together a LEAGUE CUP for 6-ASIDE STREET TEAMS and played it out at WINEBERG SPORTS CLUB on 22 Nov. 15 teams had registered. Group matches started at 10 and lunch came at 2. Knock-outs saw the SOMALI ALL STARS beat hotel crew WINCHESTER MANSIONS 3-1 in 1st SEMI. KHAYELITSHA UNITED despatched of Barney Steven`s STREET NATION in other SEMI-FINAL. SOMALIAN ALL STARS then lost the FINAL to KHAYELITSHA, who won a night in a posh 5-star hotel, kindly sponsored by the PENINSUAL-ALL-SUITES hotel. In the U-17 division, KHAYELITSHA UNITED took honours again, this time from Phillipi`s RAINBOW FC. The SALESIAN INSTITUTE in Green Point is heavily involved in Cape Town' s STREET SOCCA. This training organization for youth from the streets runs a team in the MYLIFE.ORG 6-ASIDE-LEAGUE. CAPE SOCCA UNION: SOMALI ASSOCIATIONS MEET

On Sunday, 4-10, the SOMALI ASSOCIATION of Cape Town hosted a visiting team from SWELLENDAM. Like most foreign clubs in Cape Town, the SOMALI group has difficulties in finding a permanent ground. The City has closed all amenities to foreign associations since their grounds in Green Point fell victim to the new golf course around the 2010 Stadium. CAPE TOWN AND TYGERBERG FA JUNIOR KO-FINALS

The CAPE TOWN AND TYGERBERG FA celebrated the end of its junior season with the Knock-Out Cup Finals at Maitland`s Royal Road grounds. The 48 member clubs of this largest FA in the Cape had chosen Heritage Day for the Finals. Juniors were represented in the U 11, U 13, U 15 and U 17 Divsions.CR VASCO DA GAMA took a record 5 honours, followed by IKAPA FA and AJAX CAPE TOWN with 3 winners.BOTHASIG and OLD MUTUAL came 4th and 5th with 2 cups. EINTRACHT BRAUNSCHWEIG empfing vor 20 000 Zuschauern zum Auftakt des DFB POKALS im WM JAHR die eine Klasse hoeher spielenden KAISERSLAUTERNER. Obwohl EINTRACHT ueber die letzten Jahre gute POKAL-UEBERRASCHUNGEN gegen Top-Mannschaften produziert hatte, sollte es diesmal nicht zum Sieg reichen. KAISERSLAUTERN hielt mit TORWART KEVIN TRAPP und dem ex-EINTRACHT und DORTMUND-SPIELMACHER MARTIN AMEDICK 2 gute Truempfe in der Hand. 3.LIGA STARTET MIT BRAUNSCHWEIG - OSNABRUECK

LIEBE FREUNDE DER WM 2010, in DEUTSCHLAND ist die Profisaison mit 3. LIGA-Begegnung EINTRACHT BRAUNSCHWEIG - VFL OSNABRUECK wieder losgegangen. Die spannende Partie im EINTRACHT-Stadion an der Hamburger Strasse wurde live im NDR gesendet. Bei packendem Fussball - manchmal rauh, immer interessant - gewann das Team von Trainer TORSTEN LIEBERKNECHT, das sich ua mit MARCO CALAMITA im Sturm und MARJAN PETKOVIC im Tor verstaerkt hatte. Das Siegtor erzielte Linksaussen DENIS KRUPPKE per Elfmeter: Absteiger und Nachbar OSNABRUECK war zu defensiv eingestellt, um die EINTRACHT-ABWEHR um DENIS BRINKMANN, JAN SCHANDA und DENIZ DOGAN zu gefaehrden. MUNICH STATION CELEBRATES 160th BIRTHDAY

MUNICH RAILWAY STATION, in southern Germany, celebrated its 160th birthday last weekend. The first terminus was built in 1839, while the current steel- and glass frame went up in 1960 With 350 000 passengers per day, this is the 2nd busiest rail terminus in the country, and the most important transport hub north of the Alps. Celebrations included a train simulator, live music and local culinary delights, and the athletic display of 3 acrobats, sliding up and down red cloth lines, suspended from the lofty ceiling. Visitors and passengers alike admired regional trains, historic steam locomotives and the ultra-modern high-speed ICE tubes which can reach speeds of 300km/h and more. BUNT KICKT GUT TURNIER BEIM FC BAYERN

Der FC BAYERN und Schirmherr OLIVER KAHN veranstalteten das erste BUNT-KICKT-GUT- STRASSENFUSSBAL-TURNIER auf dem Trainingsgelaende an der Saebener Str. Mannschaften im Bereich U-13, U-15, U-17 spielten ueber das Wochenende 18./19. Juli eine Art INTERKULTURELLES-STRASSENTURNIER aus. Bei diesem OPEN TURNIER ging es nicht nur um Fussball, sondern besonders um KULTURELLE und SOZIALE INTEGRATION. Neben Teams aus BREMEN und BERLIN waren auch SERBISCHE und TUERKISCHE Spieler dabei. Zusammen mit dem FC BAYERN und dem Verein BUNT-KICKT-GUT.DE trat die HYPO VEREISNBANK als Veranstalter dieses erfolgreichen Wochenendes auf.
