Troop 218 camps at Old Brunswick Towne for the during the Civil War Re-enactment. a beautiful mid-60 degree Saturday followed by cooler & very wet night & Sunday morning at the Russelborough Site located on the West banks fo the Cape Fear River.

N. Sanders Eagle Scout Project

N. Sanders' Eagle Scout Project is the construction and installation of 4 Trex benches along the side road access of New Hanover High School for students to use while waiting for their rides or the bus. BSA Troop 218 Orton Plantation Camping 2011

21 scouts and 8 leaders of Troop 218 camped at Orton Plantation Nov. 18-20th. We toured historic Brunswick town and enjoyed the brisk Fall temperatures. We cokked by patrol method and each patrol had their own campfire, menu & duty roster.

Coastal District Camporee 2011

The Coastal District Fall Camporee held at Camp Bowers with almost 700 scouts participating in Pioneering activities ranging from hatchet tosses, chicken roundup, relay races, tower building, totem pole compeitions, skits & dutch oven cooking.

BSA 218 Goes Sailing with Cape Fear Sailing Academy

Enjoy Troop 218's Sailing experience with Cape Fear Sailing Academy this past weekend. Twelve scouts & 3 adult leaders had an absolutely beautiful day of sailing out of Southport on the Cape Fear River to Bald Head Island, Oak Island and back. We want to thank the staff at Cape Fear Sailing Academy for such an smooth sail and event.

BSA 218 Carpentry Merit Badge 2010 (a centinnial merit badge)

9 Scouts completed the Carpentry merit badge which has not been offered for 52 years. It was offered in 2010 in honor of the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting. Truly a commorative and collectable merit badge/patch.

BSA 218 US National Whitewater Center 2010

For the third year in a row, Rik Beitel planned and organized an exceptional trip as our Popcorn Bonus Trip. This year upon Linda Somberg's suggestion, we traveled to the US National Whitewater Center, where the US Olympic Kayaking team trains. Our youth and adults (18) whitewater rafted, mountain biked, climbed, kayaked, zipped lined, hiked, geo-tracked, and mega jumped from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sat at the US National Whitewater Center. Youth and adults had a wonderful time and all look forward to next year’s trip. Thanks to the following individuals who contributed to make the trip successful: Linda Somberg, Suggestion & research. BSA 218 Bucaneer Gun Club Camping & Weapon Safety 2007

Troop 218 camped and was instructed in the safety and use of both rifles and shotguns. Scouts were able to fire .22 caliber rifles at targets and 12 gauge shotguns at skeet. We camped at the Bucaneer Gun Club property.
