Our Hutong!

Just like in Beijing, I'm living in a complex that is surrounded by a Hutong. Although this Hutong puts the Beijing Hutong to shame! It's giant with so many people and interesting stores- you could spend a life time in there and probably not see everything!

The vacation home for the Emperor when he wanted to get out of the Forbidden City... I think I would have ditched the Forbidden City and lived here full-time! It had just rained the day before (HARD), so it was the perfect day for an adventure on a giant man-made lake!

The Great Wall at Simatai

One incredible adventure! The ride to the wall was a four hour journey consisting of a van with holes in the bottom and a four door sedan blaring Chinese Techno to keep the driver awake. When we finally got there, it was incredible!

The Beijing Hutong Hotel

Our Hotel was located in the middle of a Hutong district in Beijing. Hutongs are areas where a huge number of people live in a very small area. Some Hutongs have been in Chinese families for centuries!
