Montenegro in 36 Pictures

In 2010 and 2011, I spent a few days in Montenegro, exploring both the mountains (in June 2011) and the coast (in September 2010). I loved this small country - especially its mountains which are not yet overdeveloped for tourism (in contrast to parts of the coast), and are hence very peaceful and quiet - and beautiful, too!

Costa Rica in 36 Pictures

The second destination of my stay in Central America (as part of my RTW trip 2008/09) was Costa Rica, where I worked as a volunteer in two National Parks (Volcán Arenal, Manuel Antonio) and a turtle conservation project on the Caribbean coast. Moreover, I visited Monteverde, Corcovado, and the areas around Turrialba and San José.

Nicaragua in 36 Pictures

My first stop in Central America (as part of my RTW trip 2008/09) was in Nicaragua, where I studied Spanish (for three weeks) and travelled around the country (for two more weeks), visiting Laguna de Apoyo, Matagalpa, León, Granada, the Isla de Ometepe, and San Juan del Sur.

Cook Islands in 27 Pictures

New Zealand in 36 Pictures

The main focus of the first half of my RTW trip in 2008/09 was New Zealand, where I spent more than two months. I really loved this country, especially hiking in the Southern Alps.

Taiwan in 36 Pictures

As part of my RTW trip 2008/09, I spent two-and-a-half weeks in Taiwan. For about a week, I explored the capital (Taipeh). Ten more days, I spent travelling around the whole country.

RTW in 36 Pictures

Between September 2008 and May 2009, I travelled around the world - quite literally: I visited Taiwan, Singapore, Sydney (Australia), Fiji, New Zealand, the Cook Islands, L.A. (United States), Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Ontario (Canada), and New York City (United States).

Patagonia in 36 Pictures

In December 2007 and January 2008, I was on holiday in South America for four weeks. Most of the time, I spent in Patagonia, both on the Argentine and the Chilean side. In Argentina, I visited the lakes region, Santa Cruz province in Southern Patagonia, as well as Tierra del Fuego. My ten days in Chile started in the lake region around Pucón, and ended with the national park Torres del Paine in the South. All in all, this holiday was one of my best so far: glaciers, volcanoes, and a lot of untouched nature – how spectacular! But see for yourself ...

Ireland in 36 Pictures

During a two-week-long holiday in June 2007, I explored the “Emerald Isle”, Ireland. I visited both some historic sights in and around Dublin (e.g. Glendalough, or Newgrange), as well as the beautiful countryside, e.g. the three peninsulas Beare, Iveragh, and Dingle, or the even more remote areas of Western Ireland in and around Connemara.

Having been to Canada twice - once to the Western part, and once to Atlantic Canada in the East - I can only say that I am thrilled with the beauty of this country.

Australia in 36 Pictures

In June/July 2004, I spent five weeks in Australia, visiting Queensland and the Northern Territory. During my stay, I was able to see quite diverse regions: from the Sunshine Coast to the Great Barrier Reef, from Kakadu NP to the Uluru. Four years later, I returned to Australia during my RTW trip, visiting Sydney (and its surroundings) this time.

New York in 36 Pictures

In Fall 2003, I spent a semester abroad at the City College of New York (CCNY). After these four months, I really felt at home in this big city - and, in fact, I still do, everytime I return! Sightseeing in Downtown, visiting museums throughout the whole city, or just relaxing in Central Park are some of my favourite pastimes in New York City.

Starting with my semester abroad in New York, NY, back in fall 2003, I visited the United States four time in total (i.e. once every year) from 2003 to 2006, and three times more in 2009/10. Thus, I have already seen quite a few famous places: from Manhattan to California, from Washington D.C. to Washington State ...
