Sie war auch in einer dieser Kisten! Der Empfang war phänomenal, selbst der Chefkommissar ließ es sich nicht nehmen 'Guten Tag' zu sagen. Es wurde für sie getanzt und gesungen...Zugegebenermaßen kamen nicht so viele Journalisten wie bei Knuts erstem Auftritt, aber hatte Knut Segamusik? - She was in one of the boxes! Das ist im Museum von La Reserve Francois Leguat. Eine Rekonstruktion der Riesenschildkröten, die es hier einst gab.- This is in The Reserve Francois Leguat where one can find a reconstruction of a Giant Tortoise, once living here.

Zu diesem Bild könnte Julien Pender Hume, einer der hier analysierenden Wissenschaftler, noch dazu mit künstlerischer Hand gesegnet, mehr sagen. Auf jeden Fall, so soll es hier ausgesehen haben vor ca. 300 Jahren bevor man Nenes Vorfahren und andere Tiere ausgestorben waren.- Concerning this painting Mr.Julien Pender Hume could say certainly smarter things than I. He has been one of the analyzing scientists here, blessed with an artful hand too. Anyway, it must have looked like this once upon a time before Nene's predecessors were extinct, 2.8 mio Giant Tortoises in not even half a century ...

Darwin erkannte die Gefahr für die Giant Tortoises früh, er befürchtete , dass auch auf Aldabra die Schildkröten gefährdet sein könnten und liess welche nach AMuritius bringen, sodass die Art vielleicht nicht gänzlich aussterben würde.- The Beagle brought Darwin also to Aldabra and Mauritius. He feared that the Aldabra tortoises could experience the same fate as the Rodriguans ones, so it is thanks to him that Mauritius got some tortoises , just in case...

Das Meer ist nicht weit und es gibt viele Höhlen und einen Haufen endemischer Pflanzen (115000 bis April 2008), die man versucht, hier wieder anzupflanzen. - The sea is not far and there are lots of caves and endemic plants (about 115000 until April 2008) which have been reintroduced.

Oh, das ist Foetidia im April 2007, der erste Bewohner in dieser Idylle. Mindestens 120 Jahre alt. Foetidia war bereits seit mehreren Jahren heimisch in La Ferme, Kapitän Nicolin hatte sie mitgebracht. Foetidia wartet ungeduldig auf Gespielinnen...- That's Foetidia, first inhabitant in this idyll, at least 120 years old, Rodriguan since Captain Nicolin has brought her to the island where she lived in La Ferme. Foetidia is male and sure, looking forward to some beauties of the other sex.

Erster Nachwuchs am 3.Januar 2008. Bis April waren es 148 Kleine, davon 6 Aldabras - First offspring on January 3, 2008....Baby time in the nursery, until April it were about 148, 6 of them Aldabra babies.

"Mamas Adoptionsunterlagen für mich. Ein Jahr kostet übrigens nur Euro 15 und hilft dem Park. Sie informieren einen auch über Gewicht und wie es einem geht, es gibt auch ein Foto". - "Mama's Adoption Certificate for me! One year just for Euro 15, and it helps the reserve. Das bin ich nicht. Ich bin dafür noch zu klein. Aber manchmal kommen Kinder, die dürfen das. Meine Kollegen und Kolleginnen überlegen schon ein Transportunternehmen aufzumachen...-No, it's not me.
