From early days together....
Introducing the key man; camerman Simon Reay, the guy who has done almost every single show from the beginning, talented, funny, strong, and a best friend.
Every raft needs a camera attached somewhere on it!
Paul Ritz, one of the key soundmen we have used. Hates the rain, loves the cold, but Paul is a brilliant man who has put up with some truly terrible conditions in some truly terrible hell holes around the world! We love ya Pablo!
Duncan Gaudin, AD on many of the shoots. Top geeza!
Danny Cane, a giant of man in every respect, and our AD on the majority of the shoots from the very beginning. What can I say? His face says it all! "Bear get a b***** move on, I've got a schedule to keep!" (Danny is also the only man I have ever met who can eat a full rack of ribs, bones and all, in under 6 minutes!)
Ladies & gentlemen, the one and only Pete Lee! (cue loud applause!) Good friend and soundman on many epic shoots including Everest and the swamps of the Everglades, where he earnt his nickname Swampy as he slowly sunk into the bog! (Great sight that was!)
...and Swampy in action!
"Do you come here often?"...
Whilst I am busy working, the crew seem to have time to take photos!
Simon in action! He tends to have to do everything I do but backwards and with a camera! And you thought my job was hard!
This is basically how we work.,...
...another jungle another dunking.
Oh dear, boys will be boys!
Simon doing what he does best - filming the extreme way.
...that's Simon's mouth I am trying to get this grub down! He must be made to pay!
What Simon doesn't know is that this baby is about to sink and that water is seriously cold!
Si and me at work....again!
The team!
The man!
The men!
The average daily temperature! (-30)
Dave Pearce (left) ex Royal marine, and our safety man on the ground. A great guy, good friend, hard as nails and the man who fights to keep the crew safe in the extremes we film in. (Si is about to enter the ice in Siberia in winter to film my swim under the ice)
From left: Dan Etheridge, camerman, Paul, soundman, Steve Rankin, our Series Producer (with us on location), me, Tony Lee, the director and Simon in Siberia.
"Cold are you, Pablo? Don't worry spring will be here soon!"
Simon in the ice: "Bugger me, it's a bit chilly perkins!"
Dan Etheridge, the most cheerful cameraman alive - Brilliant!
Less said the better....
The trio of us at the end of the desert island shoot. Great moment.
Got to keep my motivation up...
...and a sense of humour helps!
Time out at the end of the Siberia shoot! I mean, how hard can the real thing be, really?
My personal favourite picture of us three. It was the end of a very long hard shoot. We are all whacked...but somehow still smiling. What great guys to have had alongside me.
