This is the stern or rear of the boat. Note how the beams are notched at what appeared to be every 4 feet down the entire length of the vessel.
As you can see..the notching continues and it appeared to have steel bolts holding the beams together.
A closer look at the notching work.
Nothing left in this section but the flooring support beams.
The entire length of the vessel looked to be around 100 feet long. I did take one of the bricks that had to have been part of the furnace works for the boiler. The brick had no markings but is about twice the thickness and longer than bricks made today. The brick had as a center core of what appears to be very small gravel and course sand. I suppose this was the old version of a fire brick.
This is a view of the area close to the place that we found the 2 sets of tracks back in November 2006. More of those strange flowers growing here.
A large cat track that was found. It is hard to photograph a track with the sun directly over-head. I high-lighted the track so that it would show up a little better in the photo. This was in hard ..dry sand.
Many deer tracks in this area. Turkey, coyote, raccoon, rabbit and other tracks were also seen.
This is a photo of one of the older jetties that most likely was built back in the 1930s. I am standing on the modern jetty and you can see another in the background. Many times I have fished here and only the very top of the posts would be out of the water. There is about 10 feet out of the water at the time this photo was taken..due to the lack of rain to the north and the immediate area.
