“Sunday Market” We Indians have a rather unusual trait among several others; nothing in India is thrown away all that easily. All the old stuff is sold from small local markets. One such market is called the Sunday Market, located under the rusty iron bridge that defiantly spans the river Sabarmati. The collection of garments presented is a tribute to this indefatigable spirit that is Sunday Market. The collection is an effort to take recycling and its possibilities to the masses. The collection is constructed entirely out of used men’s shirts bought from Sunday market at a throw away price to convert them into women’s wear. The shirts are not cut, but used entirely, draped in a way that it involves almost no stitching. The garment beckons both the wearer and the onlooker to converse with it and discover the elements of a forgotten shirt. The designs cleverly bring rustic Sunday market to a cocktail party.
