Door to dungeon? Don't know, it was not open to the public. They really could've opened it up sooner, the poor fellow sitting there is looking a little worse for wear. Probably got lost looking for the public restrooms.
Gatehouse/Belltower in foreground, Castle in back. View from parking to museum path.
"Ruins"
"Ruins" Colonnade appears to have some poured concrete features.
View out ruins, facing towards Boston. The Museum is the reddish-colored building.

Castle from oceanside. You can see the mish-mash of building materials. Dressed stone (facade?) at base, rip-rap (fieldstone) above, and large amounts of cement.

Chateau tower.
Chateau at end of castle. You can see some of the glass for the end of the courtyard roof at upper left. The little archway leads to the door at the bottom of the colonnade in the courtyard.
The dormers for the bedrooms in the Chateau are at top. The sqare windows are to the offices and living rooms. The peaked tower at the top was inaccessible to the public, I have no idea where the access point was.
End of Chateau from front garden. The top windows were to the large (2 twin) Chateau bedroom. The lower windows are to some of the living areas.
Front of Chateau from front garden.
View from a small enclosed garden in front of Chateau. Facing Castle. Great Hall is just visible to the right.
Chateau on right, Great Hall on left.
Gatehouse with a large bell overhead, visible as you walk through.
Denizen of the castle grounds.
Castle front. Note the complete lack of windows. There is lots of cement in the mix that makes up these walls. Have a look at the difference between the semi-dressed stone at the base and the fieldstone at the top. I'm curious why they didn't go through and do some pointing to the work, there are some areas where some nice stonework has been done. Pointing in the overall scheme of things wouldn't have added that much work.
View from entrance colonnade down Castle front towards Chateau and front garden.
Secondary Castle entrance. (not drawbridge)

Medieval facade from courtyard.
Facing to the end of the courtyard away from the Great Hall. As far as I can tell there was very little structure beyond the facade at the back.
Facing the back of the courtyard, behind is Great Hall.
Authentic Medieval facade in courtyard. Real slate roof, has chimney. Also some great carving and brick nogging in the half timber structure.
Entrance to great hall and Medieval facade. Overhead a lighting system was installed by Hammond to add daylight on cloudy days, simulate moonlight at night when there was no moon, and perforated pipes through which water was run to simulate anything from a gentle shower to a downpour.
Facade at back of courtyard, pool.
Great Hall, used as living room. Gershwin played on the piano. Ethel Barrymore was also a guest here.

Bedroom. To the left out window is the courtyard. Small WC on right, to the left is a small closet. Through the closet is a hallway that leads past another WC to a Medieval Bedroom where the favored guests were allowed to stay. The other way into the Medieval bedroom was through the colonnade and hallway accessed by the stairs to the left of the pool facing away from the great hall.
