Loki

Pictures of our devil cat! Some friends of ours adopted a cat that turned out to be pregnant. Loki and 4 siblings were born on Sept 4 and 5 2006. We got him when he was almost 8 weeks old and we haven't stopped taking pictures since. It's not our fault he's cute and hilarious!

Lokitography

I read an article online about hanging a tiny digital camera on a timer from a dog's collar. I wanted to do that with Loki so I got the camera, set it to take a picture every minute, and let him run! He goes out on our deck and from there jumps up on the roof, but (sadly for him, luckily for us who don't want him to be roadkill) he can't get out into the neighborhood. He still managed to take some fun pictures.

Home Improvement

My fiance Carlos and I got a house in July 2006 and immediately started tearing it apart (with the help of our dads, who both have construction backgrounds). So far we've redone our bedroom and the bathroom attached to it. Next is a guest room and then our office. Too bad we are really slow at it.

Weather Pics

I feel compelled to document clouds just as I feel compelled to document "bugs." I've also included some non-cloud weather pictures, like fog at Monument Valley, rainbows, and maybe (eventually) snow. A lot of the cloud pictures are sunsets as well. Some of these pictures will be repeats from other albums.

Cottage for Dad's Birthday

Weekend at the Cottage for my dad's birthday, like the album title says. On Saturday we drove south to try to see the sunset better, and instead we drove into clouds (which were not at the Cottage). So this is the first time you won't see a thousand sunset photos! You get grass instead.

Zombie Walk

Someone organized a zombie walk on Facebook. I went with my cousin because he went to one last year and said it was a lot of fun. It was pretty hilarious! And I apologize for the blurry pictures, I am used to taking pictures of sunsets and rocks and things that don't move =P

Miracle Valley Vineyard and Manassas Battlefield

A friend from work was playing guitar and singing at this vineyard, so my friend and I went to listen to him play. The weather was spectacular, we ate cheese and drank wine, and it was an awesome day. We also stopped by Manassas Battlefield on the way home so I could take a picture of a tree ;)

Comet Hunting

My dad and I went out at 1AM to try to see Comet Lulin. We went to the depths of the Poolesville wilderness, hoping for dark skies. We were horribly disappointed - I can't believe how bright it was out there! We spent most of the time hoping we wouldn't be arrested or assaulted as we stood on the side of the road in the middle of the night. It was 23 degrees out there. But using the half-remembered sky map in my mind, we found our comet. We couldn't see it with the naked eye, and even through the binoculars it wasn't green, but we were excited anyway!

Manassas Battlefield

My friend and I went for a walk at Manassas Battlefield on an unusually warm Sunday. It was a lovely place and a lovely walk. I am trying to learn how to improve pictures in Photoshop (except I use Gimp), so I've put doubles of some pictures in here. First is the original, then the one where I messed with the curves. I am trying to decide (and wouldn't mind feedback) if I am doing it right or if it is ending up looking too fake.

Philadelphia Art Museum

We went to a party at our friends' new house in Philly. While we were there we took a trip to the Philadelphia Art Museum. Thanks to my Vibration Reduction lens (and patient friends), I took a ton of pictures. The museum is really cool, and on Sundays you can choose your own admission fee, so I really recommend you go if you are ever in Philly!

Neighborhood Nature

I took some pictures while I was out for a walk around my neighborhood. Then afterwards was one of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen. I didn't change the colors on any of the sunset photos in any way, that's how it looked while I was out there. It was beautiful!
