17th August Hedgehog

Fete at Herisson ( Hedgehog ) , a lovely village .Then onto Domerat and a concert where we first had Jazz then superb Irish music and dancing . Both groups are from Belfast and I'll be off on Tuesday for more of the same ..

Lourdes day 5 and Departure

The day began at the email cafe .. Impossible last night due to a storm .Then down to mass at the Grotto... A really wonderful completion to this pilgramage ... Back for lunch at Hotel du Garve .... a place I recommend and will return to . Lourdes has me hooked .A strange accident brought me here .. Or was it ?

Lourdes day 4 with visit to City of the poor

The 1st pictures show the service of annointing . This was held early this morning [5th Aug ] Yet another 'miracle '. I then went to the waters and bathed .After which the journey known as the 'water way' was made . .Almost like the stations of the cross it reaches out. Various scenes from the bible are depicted [all involving water ]- There is a biblical passage which is then explained in modern and healing context. At the end of each is a prayer . By each is a tap where one can drink of the Lourdes water. Reader I cannot describe .... One must go. As indeed is a visit to the City of the Poor a must . Begun by Bernadette it went on to be expanded by Monseigneur Jean Rhodain. Born in 1900 this reamrkable man who did so much for humanity died in 1977.To visit is to experience real love , real involvement .Walking on steep hills is best left for the moment and a remarkable Irish man who gives his time each year took me round We were joined at one point by two Irish visitors .... .Anoth

In the evening a fantastic rock concert where I really wanted to dance but used my arms instead ..........Terrific music .. Almost Dr Feelgood standard AND it made all feel good .

The day began with an International mass. After this a good Samaritan class 1 looked after me and I saw so much and experienced that which is Lourdes . Faith , fellowship , friendliness and fun .Yes fun ! The RC Church seems to enjoy fun and it helps with healing ..

The day's pictures and videos begin at Neris-les- Bains. This was the 19th leg of the Tour de France and had me in tears ! Just watching those cycliists whizz by had me itching to leap on my bike and get cycling .. Injuries prevented this .so sitting on the kerb gave me a beetle's eye view. .. Better than nothing ....Until this trip to France , the Tour de France , 'left me cold' . Now I am well and truly hooked . These guys are amazing and ALL are brilliiant . Roll on 2009 Later a musical evening at St Fargeol community centre. Who in their right mind needs TV when there is so much real talent around.? The acts were varied and all had a magic . Those who know me are aware 'waiting for magic ' is something I do . There's been so much here .Enjoy these pictures and mini videos ..
