Viewing the Torres upon arriving at the entrance of the park.
(Day 1) At Hotel Las Torres (also the location where I´m volunteering at), setting out for Campmento Torres.
Making my way up Valle Ascencio.
The Torres at "sunrise" - I went up early hoping to catch the first pink rays of sun. No luck, but the rocks are magnificent, regardless.
(Day 2) Saying goodbye to Sophie, my great French travel buddy. We spent over three weeks together, traversing Patagonia.
On the route from Hotel Las Torres to Serón. Río Paine to the right.
Attempting to capture the force of the wind in the movement of the grass. The picture doesn´t really do the gusts of wind justice, but you get the idea.
Ay, my Doite tent, camping in Serón. The tent keeps out the wind, rain, and snow...but the zippers...don´t ask me about the zippers...sszzsss...sszzszzz...and how much time I´ve spent trying to close them...
(Day 3) Leaving Serón for Campento Dickenson. 19km.
Climbing up, watching the wind create designs in the lake´s water below.
First glimpses of glacier... :)
Seeing the backside of the rocks that form the Torres.
The Torres from the other side.
Arriving at Campmento Dickson, surrounded by Lago Dickson.
Sunset at Campmento Dickson.
And moonset (?) at Dickson, early in the morning.
(Day 4) Leaving Dickson, aiming to cross Paso John Gardner, and arrive at Campento Los Guardas. 28km. The name of this mountain? Guess. Cube Mountain. Yep.
First clear view of the pass near Campmento Los Perros.
The pass is the lowest section on the left.
Making my way up to the pass, following the orange stakes.
Attempt at a self portrait. Loving life and being above treeline. That´s what I´m thinking.
Coming to Paso John Gardner.
Aw, first first view of Glacier Grey. I include this photo not because it is necessarily the best representation of the glacier, but for the pure joy of seeing this upon reaching the pass, marveling at the expanse of ice, snow, and rock.
Starting the decent.
Campo de Hielo Sur Patagonico (looking at part of the Patagonian ice sheet).
It´s nice, isn´t it? :)
Continuing the descent.
Admiring Glacier Grey, 17km of glacier. It was hard to take my eyes of off it while walking. I kept stopping to take it all in...
The trail alongside Glacier Grey from Campmento Paso to Campmento Los Guardas.
Happy.
Glaciar Grey where it meets Lago Grey.
Continuing the descent...
Pictures of Glaciar Gray from Campento Los Guardas; a series of photos during sunset.
Final light on the Glaciar; a great day, and a great ending.
(Day 5) Arriving to Lago Pehoé. Going to Campento Italiano. 23km.
Making supper, and enjoying the first view of the Cuernos.
Los Cuernos.
Up near Campmento Britanico; with Cecile, girl from France that I ran into a few times while in Southern Patagonia.
Admiring the Cuernos from Valle Frances.
Final views of the mountains before completing the circuit and starting my volunteer work at the park.
