Key West -- cats at the Hemingway House lounging on the author's bed. I think they know that being out of reach is the safest way to avoid the pawing hands of tourists.
Key West from lighthouse
Cute house -- Key West is full of such adorable cottages.
Dan with butterfly on arm.
Lively little bird
Pelicans at the beach
and now to the Everglades -- blue heron
Gator. They were ubiquitous.
Vultures. The Everglades is such a cheering place ...
Cute bird in Everglades swamp
I believe this plant is called a "suffocating fig" or something similar. I think it's pretty (but wouldn't want one latching onto me).
Tampa -- Electric Company. This picture doesn't show it, but this is on the Gulf, and manatees congregate near here in cold weather because they dump warm water from the generators right into the water. TECO has a nice little viewing area set up so you can watch them.
Baby manatee nose. You have no idea how long it took Dan to get this picture ... the water is clear, so you can see the manatees quite well, but it is hard to photograph them. Dan and I are both kind of fanatical about manatees.
Stingrays apparently also like warm water.
Lizard on a sign, Sunken Gardens, St. Pete
Lovely leopard, Big Cat Rescue, Tampa
Another big cat ... I forget what this kind is called.
White tiger looking as if it wants to be petted.
Ybor City, where husband and I stayed for our last couple of days in Florida. This is Tampa's historic cigar-making district. My mother was apparently born here.
