VEGGIE FURNACE

For the Environmental Foundry Course, Senior Sculpture Student researched and built a vegetable oil furnace using recyled veggie oil from the campus cafe. Using half of an old 55 gal drum lined with hand made refractory she melted and cast copper and bronze into clay molds.

Wayne Potratz came as a visiting artist to The National Casting Centre, Foundry at Alfred. He demonstrated African, Indian, Meso American and Japanese Clay Mold making for casting iron and bronze.

MELTDOWN 2007

The 1st Annual Iron Pour + Metal Casting Convention, is an all day event of live demonstrations of the different casting processes and techniques used to make sculpture by the Sculpture/Dimensional Studies students.
