Top section before planting
During very heavy rains, this drain can not keep up with the volume of water from the road. The section to its right was damaged by the first heavy rain.
Upon completion the geotextile at the end was intact, but not for long.
After the first heavy rain the geotextile was shredded, and the soil was washed away. Stones were set down over the area, and space was opened for the Vetiver rows.
Vetiver is planted using a marked PVC pipe as guide for a six inch separation between plants.

A view down the slope. Vetiver is also planted beyond the visible edge.
A four feet elevation differential between rows was used throughout the slopes.
In order to do the least damage to the geotextile, the holes for plants were individually poked through the geotextile using the business end of a sharp machete.
