Sanagoran March 2010
Visit to see our former head nurse Diana, in her new position leading the N 3 Brigade of the Proyecto Alto Chicama Sludable outside of Sanagoran near Huamachuco, Peru. This mine funded, government project is huge and employs health profaeesionals, agricultural engineers, sociologists and other peruvian professionals that are aiming to improve the quality of life for the people in the region as well as reducing maternal deaths, malnutrition and acute respiratory infections. In the pueblo where the project is centered I was told that 50/63 children under the age of 3 suffered from severe chronic malnutrition. The project will continue for at least the next three years.
