An example of their bikes - they have bigger wheels than the Taiwan Scooters due to the roads being crappier. But they only go about 25 mph so don't get your hopes up.
A hazy day, but we're getting closer
Definitely not in Iowa anymore
Our lobby - much nicer hotel than the 1st night
more pictures of the lobby
Arriving at the bay - this is where the fun of figuring out which boat we were supposed to get on began
Lots of tourists here
There are some 100+ boats that are for tourism in this area.
This is our boat - all for the 4 of us - and 5 people on crew (mainly to prepare lunch for us)
A neighboring boat that wasn't as nice
A Chinese boat in the harbor that would have been cool to ride on!
More boats, both big and small... the little ones were very risky
Aren't we cute?
Sarah and Alisa enjoying the ride out of the harbor
Sarah and Adam looking cute
More pictures of the boat
The fun was just beginning
Another boat
We're off and having fun!
This is the main island where all the tours go for the cave tour
Around the Bay on our boat
We actually stopped for a bit so we could eat - so the suspense was high! haha
Another boat out on a tour
An example of the limestone that has formed to give us this amazing location
Lunch is served - and there was a LOT of food
Sarah skipped the hard part of opening the crab and wanted to go straight for the meat
More shots from the upper deck of our boat
Turning the corner to the cove inside our "island"
A cave that was clearly man made into a house... but probably many many years ago. This thing was not made specifically for the tourism industry.
These were everywhere for trash - both in whale, dolphin, and penguin shapes. Made me feel like I was at Seaworld.
Another picture of the cave
A neat picture of the dock we arrived on for the island, but I can't really position it any better.
Inside the Cave with pretty colored lights
More pictures inside the massive cave
One of the few natural light places that enter the cave
Different shapes inside the cave
My favorite thing inside the cave
More natural light
It was humid inside the cave (think of the word "musty) - thus why I'm sweating so bad
More pictures of the cove with boats
My travel companions on our way down the trail
The bridge back to the boats
The Vietnamese flag (flown on every boat)
Zach and Alisa returning after their "other cave" exploration
An extended part of the tour to some more remote islands
A pretty formation
A lone boat in the water - Sarah took this nice shot
Many water boat houses where the locals who work on the tours live. I thought it'd be fun to sleep here for the night but wasn't as agreed to as I was hoping
Another ship passing us by
A pretty moment for the sun through the clowds
The boats that were already docked for the night
Sarah shopping for a new hat. She did buy one btw
The only "US" restaurant we saw - no Starbucks, no McDs
Sarah enjoying our last lunch before returning to the airport.
A fish at the restaurant - not sure if he's able to be eaten or not, but he was really really big for the tank
Hanoi from a higher viewpoint
More pictures of Hanoi
More pictures of the lake from the balcany
a shot at the non-controlled traffic below - this was typical everywhere
At the airport on the way out... very interesting translation. How many kids classify as being "difficult"????
