Koi #1: I wanted to be inspired by Japan again, and so I mimicked the grid pattern that you would see everywhere from buildings to sidewalks.... couldn't figure out what else to do with this for the longest time...
Koi #2: So I drew a koi, since koi are everywhere in Japan also. Scanned my drawing in and made it about three times larger...
Koi #3: I transferred my drawing onto the painting and painted the koi in a very transparent way so that when you are close you can still see the texture of the gridding behind.
