Tortoise Rock Trail
Take the path down from the White House to Oak Tree Meadow, as if going into Wildekrantz.
A marked path through the wattles near Wildekrantz river takes one up to a grove with good views of the cliffs opposite, where the baboons often sleep. The trail then heads north along the rocky slope, past interesting aloes and succulents, winding up to Tortoise Rock, from which one gains a great view of the forested kloof and and the eastern cliffs.
Then up to the Ramparts, a man-made stone walls of obscure purpose, and north-east up the fynbos-clad slope into a forest of Protea nerifolia. The highlights here are the views and Rock Pool Rock.
The proposed trail continues up to an old fence (I cut it), then after following the fence for about 100m one cuts down the slope to Slippery Rock stream, and thence to Rain Frog Dam.
