This was the scene outside, on that Hot August Night in 1987....
Zeitgeist: John Croslin, Kim Longacre, Cindy Toth, with Garrett Williams behind Kim. (This is from my original digital-camera snapshots of the contact sheet, before Jim Siegert greatly improved the quality on the rest of these shots)
Our heroes, J'Net and Mark.
Wild Seeds: Bo Solomon, Michael Hall, Kris McKay, Paul Swift. (Joey Shuffield on drums behind them.)
Wild Seeds in drag -- Mike Hall sporting the finest in quality brassiere-wear.
Wild Seeds. Note mural at far right -- still there today I think??
A nice wide-club view of the Wild Seeds and the crowd. Note that the Continental was bigger back then; the stage as you see it here is in the spot where the pool-room/equipment area is today (behind the current stage).
Zeitgeist. (Pretty sure I must be somewhere in this photo, though I dunno exactly where....)
John Croslin and Kim Longacre of Zeitgeist.
Zeitgeist with Rich Brotherton, Kathy McCarty and Mike Hall joining in. Garrett's up-front so this is probably "Sweet Jane".
More Sweet Jane, Presumably. (Looks like Joey Shuffield on drums in the back.)
"...and me I'm in a rock 'n' roll band, yeah!"
Jeannette at the mike with Kim Longacre -- was she introducing the band, or did they sing a duet together?
J'Net and Mark, takin' care of business.
Cool shot of where the soundboard used to be back then. Can anyone identify the two folks up there? (Who was running sound that night?)
Good crowd shot from the back half of the room. Maybe you'll spot a few faces you know/knew. That's Betsy taking orders at the bar...
Glass Eye onstage, with Kathy McCarty and Brian Beattie in the center. I guess this is during the stretch when Sheri Lane (at far left) and drummer Dave Cameron had replaced Stella Weir and Scott Marcus (before they returned to the original lineup later on).
Mark Pratz onstage, introducing one of the bands probably? Note hole in ceiling above, presumably caused by so many bands blowing the roof off the joint...
J'Net jigs for joy.
Besty signifies the last of the beer has been sold....
Heavens to Betsy!
Contrary to popular belief, the Wild Seeds actually COULD rock you all night long.
Sorry Mike, I had to do it.
