Our first road trip! Edgar drove the whole way and he is now a pro at the round-a-bouts and driving on the opposite side of the road.
In Canterbury...known at the City of Cathedrals...famous for the Canterbury Tales. We saw some very old, beautiful buildings like the towers above. We didn't stop, but will definately head back with more time.
Inside a passageway in the Deal Castle, built by King Henry VIII in the mid-16th century.
Edgar trying to escape! This castle was truly built as a fortress and not for residence. It is in the shape of a 6 petal flower.
Looks like he finally found a door!
On a bastion outside the castle with the sea behind us.
Keeping me warm...
Outside the entrance to Deal Castle. The drawbridge would have been just behind us where there is now a wooden bridge. There is even a moat below us!
The sea and France way, way out there! The beach was made of pebbles and quite cumbersome to walk on!
You can see the White Cliffs behind me.
The White Cliffs of Dover are very large chalky cliffs and the first thing many people see as they arrive in England on a ferry from France. These cliffs aren't actually in Dover...it was raining too hard for us to stop there and take a photo...maybe next time!
