Tater gets one last sit in front of 'Panel v3.0'
Eight year old Oregon Seats showing some wear (sending them back to get recovered today)...and installing a guide to better lower the canopy into that latch.
Passenger side armrest after eight years. If armrests could talk....
My armrest with elevator trim. Slightly used.
Mel had me hand write 'Usuable 18.5 US Gal on each side back in 2002 before he would sign off the plane. I'm going to make this prettier before OSH this year.
Crack in the canopy that has been held in place with aluminum tape since 2002. Going to fix this also (still thinking about how).
Going to add vents to the bottom of the cowl to hopefully get my cruise CHT's down 10/20 degrees.
Panel v4.0 (with new engine thermocouples) begins...
Tate in supercruise mode....coping with 100F temps.
Seats out.
Two hours in...
Why I like having the switches on top....easy to work on.
Ready to pull v3.0 panel off.
This crack has been covered by aluminum tape since 2002. Fixing that this week....
Making little guides to allow the canopy to slide into the opening easier....
Louvers drilled into place....
v4.0 Panel being cut at SteinAir on Friday - photo by Stein.
Canopy off for the first time since 2002.
8yr old canopy crack from behind - rivets replaced with #6 screws/nuts.
.025 alum cut on 8' shear - clamped into place.
Rivets drilled out and holes in strip drilled from bottom with 90 degree drill.
Holes dimpled and #6 screws with nuts installed to replace rivets (not tighted down too tight).
Ready for paint - next step is to put back on plane and trim to fit cap with roll bar.
Panel blank from SteinAir arrives...
What I should PROBABLY make it look like.....
The 3rd EFIS came with the order....and it just drops right in.
Dropped right in. Note how the top and sides of panel were left square (we asked for this special - my canopy frame is a little off and needs to be custom fit)
Canopy crack repaired. Proseal drying...
Back side of crack...now not visible.
Radio stack drilled into place...
Rack braces riveted in place.
Ready for nuts.
Working on the top curve...
New sensors arrive...
Rough cut...
Canopy back on and all better...ready for paint.
New pitot/static connectors going in.
Believe it or not....we're about done with the wiring (I know you don't believe me, but we are)
Screen mounts riveted in.
Panel v4.0 alodined....
Right side new sensor probs installed/secured.
Left side engine sensor probes installed / secured.
Manifold (suction) sensors/lines.
Visitor!
Wiring in circuit breakers (note all the extra space now)
Done by Abby at Flightline Interiors...
AOA mounted - just enough clearance where only a tiny hole had to be made in the glareshield (not visible due to carpet). Right in my line of sight on a decending left base.
Calibrating Fuel tomorrow...
