9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance
More than 1,500 volunteers of all ages, through United Way of Greater St. Louis and its partners, volunteered at more than 60 projects from September 6 – September 15 for the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. The majority of volunteers and projects took place on Saturday, September 11.
Volunteers worked on projects such as painting, neighborhood clean-up, community gardening, sorting donations, writing letters to military and local service men and women, assisting organizations with administrative tasks and more.
Volunteer projects were organized by United Way, the Mission Continues, AmeriCorps and others in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles, Bellville, East St. Louis, and Alton to pay tribute to the lives of our military, police, firefighters, and EMT heroes and officials to commemorate 9/11.
