Columns and other ruins in the Old City.
In order to enter the giant mosque in the middle of the Old City, I had to cover up. They rent this rather drab garb just outside of the mosque. This is me in the Ewok outfit outside of the tomb of Saladin (of Crusades fame).
Inside the square, just outside of the prayer area. There is beautiful art on the walls.
Same building from another angle.
Another picture from the square.
The door to the prayer area is in this corner. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside.
The dome on top of the prayer area.
More ornate art in the mosque area.
From a mosque to a Catholic church... they were putting together this Christmas tree in the square in front of the church.
Someone loves Celine enough to get this painted on their car! We thought it was too funny to pass up.
This giant thing lights up at night. It is on one of the corners of "Oh My God Square", where there is some kind of large place of worship on each corner.
Mmmm Glenn's cinnamon bun from brunch with Mona & Stephen.
We had brunch outside... on December 2nd!
Check out all of the leather in this shop!
Mona, myself and Mike in his cool carpet shop in the souq.
The view from a restaurant atop the mountain in Damascus. All of the green lights are mosques!
