"Well... My strong suit is not animation. But I can do some basic animation things in blender. But would be glad to try and give some help. I am not sure what the "render current frame tool" is, I usually use the key frame button (Red circle in animation mode), whatever you change will be key framed. I usually export a .png or .tif image sequence, but sometimes I export a quicktime movie as well. That might work better for you in iMovie (though I don't know who the newer iMovie's work)."
