Abington READS!

Abington READS! will give you an opportunity to help younger students (entering Kindergarten through 2nd grade) practice reading over the summer. We need young adult volunteers (in grades 6-12) to help in this very successful program. You can sign-up for one hour per week. It’s fun—you get to read great children’s books and inspire young students to become successful readers. Earn Service Learning Hours – Certificates Will Be Awarded!! Required Training Session: In order to participate in Abington READS, ALL students are required to attend a training session on procedures and read-aloud techniques. Required training sessions will be Wednesday, June 13, 7-7:45 p.m. or Saturday, June 16, 10-10:45 a.m. Program dates: Monday, June 18 – Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Hey, Teens! Join us this summer for Abington READS! Earn Service Learning hours. Certificates will be awarded. Abington READS will give you the opportunity to volunteer to help younger students (Kindergarten through 2nd Grade) practice reading over the summer. We need young adult volunteers (in grades 6-12) to help in this very successful program. You can sign-up for one hour per week. Required Training Session: Join us on Sat, June 18 from 10-11 a.m. for a workshop on read-aloud techniques. Attendance is mandatory if you have not previously attended a training session. Program begins Mon, June 20 and runs until Tues, Aug, 2, 2011. Registration begins May 26. Celebrate Diana Trout’s new book: JOURNAL SPILLING

Students in Grades 6-12 Adults welcomed! Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm Journal Spilling - Learn what’s it all about! Go through the process of art journaling using words, images, colors, collage, etc. Learn mixed media techniques for free expression. In your own personal art journal, you don’t have to stay inside the lines. Spilling words, colors, and images in your journal can be like a big sigh of relief! Supplies will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own journal. Refreshments will be provided.

WHAT IS YOUR HOUSE MADE OF? Young Adult Science Show and Tell Ages 12 to adult Thurs, Oct 16 from 7-8 pm Retired handyman David Koenigsberg will show dozens of small samples of the materials used to build houses: woods, metals, plastics, floors, walls, ceilings, interiors, exteriors.
