Where these prisoner ID photographs by Nevin would have appeared at the AOT, had the original photo supplement to the Police Gazettes 1870s survived (or not been removed/ stolen etc).
Poster boys: mug shots by Nevin sourced from the Beattie Collection, QVMAG, with the incorrect title "The convicts of Port Arthur". They were photographed in the 1870s by Nevin when resentenced and imprisoned for new offences at the Hobart Gaol Supreme Court and Police Office Town Hall.
"Taken by Thomas Nevin" : webshot of first page of the State Library of Tasmania's display of 85 convict photographs by Thomas Nevin, one of Attorney-General W.R. Giblin
Hobart Gaol 1898: all prisoners who were sentenced for longer than 3 months were photographed by the Nevin brothers when they were transferred to the Hobart Gaol. Source: Cyclopedia of Tasmania 1898, p. 131
