John Wright: Raging Pigs
Photo shoot of John and his farm for Stoney Creek Oils calendar 2011 by Tiffany Titshall. John sells his pigs at Talbot Farmers' market and is improving his farm using natural principals including biodynamic composting, green manure cropping and the pigs live free range. John also has solar power and is building using highly insulated sustainable and recycling methods. John and Fred Davies at Stoney Creek share a desire not to leave 'the cupboard bare' for future generations. Sometimes the pigs enjoy a roll in left over grape skins from Stoney Creek grape oil pressings.

Talbot Community Library
Talbot library was to be closed in 2004 so the community got together a group of volunteers to reopen it for borrowing books, holding interesting talks, encouraging the arts and for education. There is also a mobile library. In 2009 a storm damaged the roof and walls of the building and at Dec 2009 the building is being restored whilst the library is temporarily placed in the old bank opposite market square on Scandinavian Crescent.

Majorca Racecourse
Majorca is a small town 12 km from Talbot in the Central Goldfields Shire. It once had a public racecourse. The land is now a protected area managed by Parks Victoria and McCallums Creek Landcare. Funds are required to manage weeds and renew the native grass population. Protected Red Gums remain, some of which are around 500 years old. When visiting the area please respect the environment and watch out for falling limbs!
