Air Show Cozumel 2012

Photos taken at the 2012 Cozumel Air Show. The event was held at the Cap. Eduardo Toledo airport which is located about 1/2 way between Chankanaab Parc & The Sabor resort. It's a very new modern private airport and spectators were allowed very good access to the static displays and to the runway making it an exciting event. Headlining the event were Patty Wagstaff, Skip Stewart, Gary Ward, Fred Cabanas & Carlos Dardano. All photos taken with a Canon 7D & Tamron 18-270 VC lens.

Stetson Flyers 2011 Giant Scale Fun Fly, the morning set

Photos from the morning session of this years fun fly. The event drew a lot of pilots & planes, and the weather was ideal so everyone wanted a lot of flying time resulting in a lot of photos. As a result of the nice lighting I did my best to get a good variety of photos, so good that I've made a morning & an afternoon album.

ORCC Electric Fun Fly, Sept 2011

Photos taken at this years all electric fun fly, from about 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM when they stopped for lunch. The event was held at the Trail Rd flying field on a day that started out a bit cloudy but winds were calm, and as the day progressed the weather improved too. This album has my photos but I've uploaded a second album shot by a young lad who seemed into photography so I handed him one of my cameras & let him have at it.

ORCC Electric Powered Fun Fly, Sept 2011, Set 2

This set of photos were taken by my volunteer assistant (Omar), a young lad with a keen interest in photography, which I hope he explores further. I didn't have time to really teach him how to shoot action but now that I've seen his results I know that a few pointers plus some shooting time with similar gear could produce respectable results. I'm sure several of you know him so let him know what you think of his work.

24th Annual Kingston IMAA Giant Rally. Saturday Afternoon photos.

Photos from the 2011 Giant Scale Fun Fly hosted by the Kingston Radio Control Club in conjunction with IMAA Chapter 217. This years event had a record number of pilots and they kept the flight line busy, so busy that I've split the days photos into 3 albums, those taken in the morning, plus one for the lunch break where several pilots put on a 3D demonstration, and finally the photos from the afternoon session.

FYI

How to view the photos in the albums as true full screen photos (depending on your actual monitor). When downloaded they can play as a slideshow without any borders etc on most monitors when using Picasa to run the slideshow.

Rideau Flyers EDF Event 2011

Photos of the Electric Ducted Fan model jets event held by the Rideau Flyers Radio Control Club. Besides being a fun fly they also held a speed competition, running 2 classes determined by fan size & a specific battery size or anything goes.

IMAC in the Capitol 2011, Day 2

Photos from the second day of a 2 day competition hosted by the Rideau Flyers Radio Control Club under IMAC rules, with members of the Ottawa Radio Control Club acting as Contest Directors (all volunteers). The event had a minor weather delay but once that faded things went just as planned, and everything went perfectly. Although I didn't stat for the final hour on Saturday I dsidn't see 1 dead stick emergency, nor any other problems with any plane once it went skyward.

Photos taken June 4, 2011 at the IMAC in the Capital aerobatics competition which was again hosted by the Rideau Flyers Radio Control club field. Weather conditions were excellent from a flying point of view, but poor for photography due to dull skies. Anything flying high was nothing more than a silouette

Rideau Flyers Electric Fun Fly, May 2011

Photos taken at the 2011 all electric fun fly held by the Rideau Flyers Radio control club. Anything powered by electric motors was welcome, and there was a wide variety of planes including foamies, and helicopters. The weather was perfect right down to a light breeze from the east and lots of sunshine. Unfortunately I had to leave at about 2:00 PM for another commitment so I wasn't able to see everything fly.

Photos from the annual MAAC Zone G fun fly held at the municipal airport near Smiths Falls Ontario. The event was very well attended this year with lots to see & watch. Skies were overcast most of the day making good exposures a bit tricky.

The 2010 Smiths Falls (Zone G) fun fly, day 1's prop planes

Photos from the Zone G fun fly held every year at the Smiths Falls airport. Lighting was constantly changing making ideal exposures difficult so with a little help from software I hope these look about right. The event was well attended and is very well run so that anyone wanting to fly gets a turn, and time is split between the lets & the prop planes.

IMAC in the Capitol 2010, the Freestyle photos

Photos from the freestyle event held on Sunday June 13, 2010. Competitors performed whatever tricks they could fit into their 4 minute routine, which was set to music. I took enough photos to make for a very large album but have trimmed it down to these hoping it doesn't get boring.

Photos from day 1 of this years event, which was held on June 12 & 13 at the Rideau Flyers field, near Kars, Ontario. It had rained a good part of the night & luckily started clearing just in time to start the event around the scheduled time, and even better yet the weather steadily improved as the day went by.

IMAC in the Capitol 2009, day 1

A collection of photos taken on day 1 of a 3 day event. I wasn't able to attend the full time on day 1 or 2 and not at all on day 3 which may have been rained out. On day 1 it was heavily overcast but with very light winds & comfortable temperatures but the field was rather wet due to rain over the previous days. Competitors took it in stride & the event went smoothly.

Upper Canada Zone Fun Fly 2009

Photos taken on Saturday July 25 and Sunday July 26 at this years zone Fun Fly. I wasn't able to attend the full time so there are missing shots of planes that may have been flown or displayed. Weather was varried and the skies were a bit lackluster as a background at times but you go with the weather you get.

Stetson Flyers Annual Giant Scale Fun Fly, 2008

A collection of photos shot on Sat Sept 13, 2008 at the Stetson Flyers club field. The day started off heavily overcast with a low ceiling, and a threat of rain, but little by little the weather improved allowing a full day of flying. I've tried to include a good selection of flight shots from each plane flown, and the more times it flew the better chance for some good shots. If I missed your plane my appoligies, I tried to include them all. Larry.PS I was fortunate enough to be invited by Don Dow to the Rideau Flyers field to shoot some more photos of his fabulous helicopter, including some of it flying. I have added them to the end of this album for all to enjoy.

Lama SA 315 B RC Helicopter

Photos of Don Dow's stunning scale model of the Lama SA 315 B manufactured by Vario Helicopters in Germany. (www.vario-helicopter.biz) It's powered by a miniature gas turbine (jet) engine made by Jakadofsky Jet Engines (www.jakadofsky.com) in Austria. The helicopter kit has to be ordered ala carte so to speak, allowing it to be built to several different levels of perfection. 4 th Annual Ottawa Valley Fun Fly photos of the jets

Photos taken Sunday July 27, 2008 at the Ottawa Valley fun fly held just outside Smiths Falls. The event was well attended and I am very impressed with the current state of the hobby. When I flew engines were under 1 cu in, and the radio systems offered much less control, but with bigger components in the smaller planes. Now the servos & other related parts have room to spare due to the large engines. The jet engines really intrigue me, and now I have a need to learn more about them.

The event was held just a few minutes from the town of Smiths Falls at the Montague Airport and was well attended. Unfortunately from a photographers point of view the spectator viewing area faced into the sun making it hard to get good exposures.

Rally of the Giants Flight shots

Photos taken of various planes during flight demonstrations at the 2008 Rally of the Giants radio control flying meet held at Arnprior Ontario. Most are crops leaving out areas of the overcast sky and were taken on the final day of the rally, which means some exibitors had already started the long drive home.
