First sight of this incredible place called Icy Strait Point/Hoonah Alaska told me: It's going to be an incredible day! Here begins our love affair with the REAL Alaska!
Behold the beauty!
One more shot before going ashore:
We're taking a flightseeing adventure on an Wings of Alaska plane. Great window seats for all!
Our captain giving us an introduction:
Look closely and you'll see eagles right next to the airstrip...only in Alaska!
Here we go....
One more shot of the eagles...I'm in amazement already!
A pic of Icy Strait Point and our ship; the Celebrity Summit!
OK, just one more!
Yep, this is going to be a great trip!
Such varied landscapes below:
Another view looking toward the mountains:
I love this shot...onward to Glacier Bay!
I can't resist looking out Bethany's window:
The wheel of the plane in the lower right corner with the beauty of the land below!
Did I mention I'm a picture taking freak???
Look at this view!
I'm now in amazement!
This almost looks like Mother Nature sprinkles this rounded mountain top with power sugar!
Glacier Bay here we come!
Do you get the idea I just can't stop taking pictures?
What a beautiful lake combo below!
A beautiful Glacial stream; and notice the glacial blue of the water!
Another view and another exposure:
And here's a close-up of these twin lakes!
Now we've climbed up above the glaciers!
We're now right over a glacier coming down to the waters edge...amazing!
Such an incredible sight....
Another view of another glacier showing the darker areas, called the glacier moraine:
Check out Al on the right, who is taking vidio of our trip!
A view ahead:
Ok, I'm beginning to go on overload taking in the beauty of the mountains below:
Glacier Bay is way down in the distance. I love this aerial perspective!
Look at all that snow!
Look at that incredible color?
I feel like I'm on top of the world!
What a beautiful sight!
Such incredible landscape!
This looks like where a glacier begins!
I'm so glad we decided to take this flightseeing trip. So few people are able to experience the wonders that are usually not seen at such close range!
Even close now!
So much snow!
Look at the glacier blue colors in all that snow pack!
How can anything get any more dramatic...and it simply does get better and better as we proceed!
We're here in the last week of May and so much snow! I wonder if it's any less later in the season???
So few people have the good fortune of seeing this incredible area from the air...I feel so fortunate!
A close up!
At the top of the world...that's how I feel anyway!
Word can't describe...
Just look at the colors...if a color of a crayon, I would call it: Glacier Blue!
And this crayone would be: Glacier Turquoise!
Now we're looking at the path of the glacier:
And now we're looking at the downward path of the glacier. Did you know it's actually a frozen river???
Now we're over the glacier as it meets the waters of Glacier Bay:
You can see the glacier with it's glacial moraine:
The water at the base of the glacier has lots of floating ice.
I can't resist another shot:
Now we're swinging around to see the face of the glacier!
We actually see this glacier calving...the pilot claims being in the right place at the right time doesn't happen on most flightseeing trips.
Just can't get enough!
Looking out the other window. I don't wan to miss a thing!
What an awesome sight!
Here's the first picture of the photomerge:
And here is the merge of the above pic and the one below!
Here's the 2nd part of the photomerge!
Another view of the glacier I had fun with photomerge/Photoshop Elements! Did I ever mention how much I love Elements!
Back on top of the world!
OK; back to the crayon: Glacier Slate Blue!
What a view...anyone have a toboggan?
Have I mentioned that I just can't get enough?
Look at the path downwards toward Glacier Bay!
I love this view!
We're heading out of this incredible wonderland of Glacier Bay. I don't want this to end!
What a view!
Another amazing view!
Look at the colors of this glacial stream!
We're leaving this Glacier Wonderland now...
Alaska is simply a palate of colors...everywhere!
The views have changed, but not the wonders of the views!
Just look at the beauty of this incredible day!
Heading back to Icy Strait Point/Hoonah...but the beauty continues to amaze me!
We've come from the snow capped Mountains above Glacier Bay to an almost Caribbean look of the waters of Icy Strait!
No this is NOT the Caribbean!
This almost looks like Megans Bay in St Thomas...oh wait; no trees like this in the Caribbean, right?
Almost back to Icy Strait Point now...
Here's Icy Strait Point:
This is a former Cannery...now cruise ships bring visitors to this great place!
We've landed; Thanks for a great adventure!
