1. Evolution of Art / Vertical Association / Ontogenic-Phylogenetic Learning Process

Documenting the learning process: how landscapes shift through increased knowledge and experience. Evolution of perception by experience-driven learning, shaping cognitive maps (or mental maps) of landscapes and surroundings. Also simultaneously exploring the relationships between genres of art (e.g. impressionism, realism, conceptual art, etcetera and how each genre corresponds to a biological state, emotional state, or state of process in learning). This first consciously happened to me when scuba diving before and after taking an invertebrate and algae class. Same occurrence with California Vegetation. This first collection focuses on my first best image: the kansas sunflower in my father's yard.

5. Homogeneous / Snapshots in Transience / Drive-By Shooting / Images from a Moving Car

After reviewing my photoportfolio with Shannon Switzer--the up-and-coming, world-renowned Conservation Photographer--I had come to realize that some of the most compelling, intriguing images I have taken are completely accidental, random luck-shots (emphasis: RANDOM!!!) from a moving car. They are images of Creating the Unexpected. There is also a dynamic about them--a lively motion--anything but static! I don't mind the blur effect, as long as there is a sensation of energy!

News journalism photography is what I like to call second-tier National Geographic. The images are aesthetic and functional in terms of captioning the attention of the reader to inform them about a fundamental topic or issue, but the image does not hold the transcendent emotional appeal, nor enduring-research-conservation appeal of National Geographic. A fundamental commonality of National Geographic and News Journalism photography is the ability to symbolically capture a topic within a single photograph (or a short series of photographs).

Shannon Switzer and I meditated on the idea of going to certain places and taking pictures of the same landscapes with slightly different angles, which include vital pieces of information that drastically alter the content and evoked emotion, message of the image. The example Shannon showed me was a tropical island scene, then Shannon lowered the camera and out of the blue a giant wad of trash on the beach showed up in the image, which was hidden in the previous "glorious travel shot."

21. Stokastika's Biologically Incorrect Cartoon Portfolio. In short, cartoons are allometric distortions of biological reality (and ironically, biology is already allometrically distorted!). Out in cartoon land, my characters can take any shape and size and color and shade (etc.) they want! They are morphologically plastic since their backbone or exoskeleton are made out of paper! Cartoons are the best way I can express myself right now: I have too many ideas and not enough time to elaborate each idea to the fullest, so I create outline sketches of really cute characters and their systems to illustrate the idea. I probably thought about 101 times over the course of winter quarter 2009 how I need to create a cartoon portfolio, and finally I am crossing this overbearing item off my to-do list. Images currently not included in this portfolio: Question Reality Manuscript, World's Easiest Catch film, The Elephant and the Oak Tree, and Artwork pre-Question Reality manuscript.

Stokastika Self PhotoPortfolio / Zed Card Compilation / ADBUSTERS!

I am making this portfolio, because one day I will show the whackiest Zed Card to Michel Gondry--to convince him that I am worthy of working with him. It is also in response to my receiving a first-ever "photography shoot" by a professional photographer by the name of Shelly in Hollywood (people spend THOUSANDS of dollars for photoshoots! mine was part of a package). Shelly's portrayal of me as a drabby, plain corporate office girl was far from my own evolving understanding of myself. I cannot blame Shelly. First off, she barely met me, and hence she doesn't know my infinite projections-bubbles of energy. Secondly, she was running a mass production operation. So, if I didn't look like Natalie Portman, Shelly wouldn't give a shxt. I don't blame her. Constructing a Self Photoportfolio is cathartic, and it really probes into my inner Self in terms of "Who I Am" at a given point in space and time. These photographs, just since age 25, are rapidly evolving.

Stokastika PhotoPortfolio: Human-Dominated Landscapes

Baseline Eclectic PhotoPortfolio for Stokastika / Biologically Incorrect / Eclectic Ecologist / The Living Art / Vix Pix, a.k.a. "Victoria Minnich." The purpose of this Photography Collection is to demonstrate a Baseline of Photographic Technique (with an ancient Olympus Camedia, Nikon Coolpix 5700, and now Nikon D80 SLR, as well as Photoshop) portrayed on a diversity of systems at a diversity of scales. The Three-Fold Scheme of Classification of these photographs are (1) This Peculiar Organism Called a Human Being, (2) Human-Dominated Landscapes, and (3) Everything Else. Taking pictures of People and Pets and Significant Human Events is very exciting, but ideally, I would love to take pictures of non-linear systems, like sedimentological features and strange organisms that you never knew existed. Unfortunately, taking those pictures are paradoxically the most eye-opening but the least-paying. Such is the Life of an Artist, existing in Poverty in Pursuit of Wealth of Soul. Oh well.
