Richard Fortescue Phillimore, father of Richard Phillimore. Had an active and successful naval career ending up as First Admiral Commanding Aircraft in the Royal Navy in 1917. Ran the farm after he retired from the Royal Navy in the early 1920s until his death in 1940.

Admiral Richard Fortescue Phillimore (centre) with Lt. Parsons (left) outside the Imperial Russian Headquarters in 1916. He was attached to the Imperial Russian HQ as naval advisor for 16 months and travelled extensively across Russia in the period just prior to the Revolution.
