SPBS community service 2010

Rice Pagoda & Charity Day

Helping out at the Rice Pagoda and Charity Day at Palelai, where donation of rice, provisions and money($10000 Cheque) will be made to est.11 Welfare Homes. The "Rice Pagoda" was Huge! Everyone had enjoyed themselves, volunteering to carry the rice and donations up to the trucks and vans. The packet rice are heavy stuffs! I guess we have carried more than a 100kg of rice in total. You guys and girls are great! Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu~!

East Coast Park Outing

A chill out session after exams for members! Jointly collaborated by SPBS and SP Catholic Student Service Club. We went for Dana session at Palelai in the morning, and had token of appreciation ceremony for the 43rd Council, before we went to the actual ECP outing.

Museum Visit "Serenity in Stone: The QingZhou Discovery"

A visit to the museum on 1,400 years old Buddhist stone statues that were discovered by the archeologists at Qing Zhou of Shan Dong Province, China. You wouldn't see them on the photos because no photography is allowed in the museum area...

Kathina Day Celebration 2008

Kathina Day falls on the 1st month after the 3 month Rain residence (Vassa) of the monks, a practice that has been carried on for almost 2600 years since the Buddha's time. Nothing has change, except the growing number of participants... (BS Participants too!)

Upasampada of Senior Chun Kiang

Upasampada means "undertaking" and, specifically, refers to the ordination rite by which one undertakes the Buddhist monastic life. Our Senior Chun Kiang, now Known as Bhante Atiphalo / Bhante CK, has finally fulfilled his aspiration to be a Buddhist Monk.

First Management Training (1 Sept - 10 Sept 2006)

2006. Realizing the importance of spiritual maturity and proper understanding to the Patipati and Patipada (Doctrine and Practice) of the Buddha for a Council. The president of the 41st Council, Ming gen, has made compulsory for all Council Members to go through a 10 day retreat in Santi. In this retreat, the council has further developed the principles of managing a Buddhist Society along with developing the Sasana within the heart, under Ajhan Keng's guidiance.

5 day retreat in Santi

2005. In the very same year, after the First stay in Santi, the stories and knowledge from the retreat has inspired many other members to go for another retreat in Santi. Although it's a short stay + Ajhan keng is not around. Still, many had developed a personal experience to Dhamma directly. Many enlightening lessons were learnt.

First Retreat & Short Term Ordination in Santi (5 May - 22 May 2005 )

2005, May. A casual remark, "Why not we go for a short term ordination" had decided the very first visit to Santi Forest Monastery by the President, Tobbie Poh and Orgainsing Secretary, Sum Hou. It is more than just a retreat but a search for an answer to their doubts and uncertainty to the direction of SPBS in it's spiritual development. Under guidance of Ajhan Keng Khemako and many other cultivated eight preceptors, we move onto a path of spiritual growth within. It is a significant start a SPBS Management that seek refuge in the Triple Gem and spiritual maturity of it's members.
