On our way from Paris to Ougadougou
Just after taking off from Niamey, Niger after a brief stop over
Red earth here reminds me of Australian soil - Sunburnt
Ougadougou Int'l Airport. We were the only plane that day.
Our hotel room - 4 star living by Ouagadougou standards. This is at our "home base" in Ouga, the Centre D’Accueil Notre Dame de Lorete
Roof top View
The hotel was adjacent to the National Performing arts center for Burkina. This was quite possibly the ugliest building I had ever seen. I tried hard to find something that I liked about it. But, the only thing I could think of was... It's Irony as the ugliest home for the arts I've ever seen.
Lone passerby in the performing art center's expansive courtyard
View to the south of the hotel.

Modern Fuel... Juxtaposed with....
Ancient Transportation.
Typical market.
We stopped here and asked the shop owner if he sold towels. He said yes, and ran down the street to get me one, telling us to wait there. Then wanted to sell them to us for the equivalent of 20 dollars each. No, thanks.
Produce Market
Typical Construction Site. Note the wooden rough cut scaffolding, concrete materials dumped in the road on site.
Balance must be genetic.
Comfortable chair, tied together with goat leather
Day 2: Sunrise over Ouaga
Very common. The van likely had 15 people in it.
Collecting water at a pump in Diebougou
Heather, outside Bianca's Diebougou home. Our two new Peace Corps buddies.
The local mill. Diesel driven motor. We are considering retrofitting this for solar power. Not sure it could be done though.
It's a beefy motor, with a lot of Torque

We saw these hand painted Coiffure (Barber) signs everywhere
Goat
Sleeping Goats.
Outside the African Sustainable Development Council's Diebogou headquarters
A Shea Butter Nut. Beneath the green skin is a sweet fruit like substance. The nut, used to make sheabutter, is in the center.
The tree from which it fell.
