Colorado has not had great aspen colors this fall. We were hoping the Henrys would be better. This is near Vail.
Best in Colorado was at Vail.
Lunch time + Glenwood Springs--must be time for Vicco's Charcoal Burger Drivein. See http://www.charcoalburger.com/ Since 1953!
In Grand Junction, 20+ Vipers needed gas just as we did. We saw some of them 5 days later headed east on I-70 in Utah.
For sale in Hanksville.

Next morning, Koko can hardly get around. We ended up putting socks on three feet. It took her 3 days of rest to recover.
Mr BZ builds a fire ring. There were fire "sites" around, but no ring, so we decided to build a nice ring that would last and others would use.
DeBZ has "tinfoil dinners" on the coals and a peach cobbler in the dutch oven. That's why we like to camp with them!
Opening the tinfoil dinners.
Nobody around--must be nap time!
Last day, an exploration of some of the burned area.
A huge fire swept through the N and NE sides of Mt Ellen 10-20 years ago.
That afternoon, the weather was changing. Thunder around and then a line of rain and lightning swept N over Hanksville and the San Rafael Desert.
Sunrise the next morning--Mt Ellen had a cloud sitting down on top.
Packing up to head home. In five days a spider had decided one of our chair bags was a great place to lay eggs.
After the rain, it was very clear. Here's the San Rafael Reef. Temple Mtn in the middle.
Back down the rough road toward Hanksville.
Looking back at the Henrys--getting socked in more and more. A good day to go home.
