Grant Family Farm Conservation Area
PLC is working to connect two existing conservation areas in Weare: The Perkins Pond Wildlife Management area and the Walker Conservation Easement, which includes the summit of Mount Dearborn, Weare's highest peak. The potential exists here to create a 700+ acre block of minimally fragmented conservation land! Work on the Grant Family Farm Conservation Area, a key connection, began in 2010 with the preservation of the Knowles and Martin conservation lands. (see photos as the landowner posted the first easement signs!) In 2011 PLC hopes to raise the funds for Phase II, the preservation of the Grant Homestead area and the Woods Family Conservation area.
