1999 Kawasaki ZR7 import from Japan. As received and looking OK but non functional.
Nice example of digital engine management requirements built onto the traditional carburettor form. TPS (throttle positioning sensor) on the left hand side, heaters and sensors below the lower bracket.
Dunking such an assembly into ultrasonic tanks is not a very good idea. Full dismantling, cleaning, testing, accurate reassembly, visually synchronising, lubricating and fuel testing is the JRS way - tested quality.
A good example of modern carburation. A pair of Mikunis from a 640 cc single cylinder Suzuki engine. Note sensor support for bike's digital engine management. Stunning performance and impossible without these technologies.
38mm Mikuni flat slide carburettors. Standard fitment on some machines and a very popular upgrade for others. Be aware that the accelerator pumps wear quickly and are expensive to put right!!
Comprehensive clean and repair together with additional plating and polishing (Streetfighter)
Suzuki import: 400 Bandit: carburettors after a comprehensive overhaul. Arrived non functioning and completed work, duly tested will work properly.
It's Triumph triple time: Similar instruments: bikes of a similar age. Daytona carbs on the right and something different on the left. Both sets in for Comprehensive overhaul. All three idle mixture screws on the Daytona carburettors were seized!!
Triumph triple carburettors from ...........................
this handsome machine!! Thanks Alan.
Yet more MIkunis from Triumph motorcycles. Comprehensive Clean/Overhaul. These were solid with fuel residues. After overhaul and testing they are now in first class condition. JRS- tested quality.

Carbs from a 1998 Suzuki GSF1200S, as received.
Same carburettors
Comprehensive overhaul completed and the assembly fuel tested.
Same set after overhaul. Note TPS on the left.
As well as the overhaul, a seized idle mixture screw needed releasing and many of the bowl scrtews were also seized. New screws supplied. JRS - tested quality.
1995 1500 Goldwing carburettor assembly: trade work and Comprehensive Overhaul required. 2 CD carburettors with remote pump and a lot of pipework!!
A set of 40mm flat slide Mikunis. External examination shows a decent set of carburettors, but the idle screws tell a different story.....
This is what they should look like....
This one and...........
......and this one and the other one have their tips broken off.
This is where the tips are - firmly wedged in the carburettor bodies. The "Buying Secondhand carburettors" section of the website warns about this problem. So these carburettors are of little use until this problem is resolved and resolving this problem is unlikely to be straightforward.
Suzuki RGV 250 P carburettors at JRS for CO.
1996 Yamaha VMax assembly at JRS for CO. Low mileage bike but carburation hopeless. Problems caused by fuel residues, corrosion and a self dismantling slide/diaphram component!!! JRS experience and thoroughness found the faulty component and the tested overhaul will resolve these difficulties.............................
Work complete and fuel tested.
Private customer sent these Yamaha R1 (2000) carburettors to JRS for CO (comprehensive overhaul).
Dismantled, cleaned and rinsed using ultrasonics. After parts inspection, they will be ....................
.....reassembled, lubricated and visually synchronised. Lastly the completed work is placed on a fuel rig to ensure float valve operation and all inter carburettor links are OK.
Finished work. Originally sent to JRS because acceptable performance was impossible to achieve. The problem? Fuel residues - just as simple as that. JRS - a tested, engineering approach to carburettor overhaul.
Trade work this time: set of carburettors from a year 2000 Honda CBR600FY, sent for CO. Low mileage machine and carburettors look fine, but they do not fuel the engine as they should.
On the bench: : One unit being rebuilt, 2 awaiting rebuild and the fourth awaiting dismantling.
Completed work.
JRS - used by the trade and private customers alike. An engineering approach to carburettor overhaul and restoration - tested quality.
Suzuki DREZ400 carburettor in for CO. Laden with performance features and in excellent condition - but not fuelling as it should.
Overhaul completed and work fuel tested. This unit incorporates an accelerator pump, TPS and overun diaphram assembly, together with a mass of breathers.
TPS at the top and overun diaphram remotely fitted to the side.
A technically complex little instrument capable of superb performance. Overhaul staandards need to be of a similar standard. Oh! The problem? Yes, fuel residues once again. JRS tested quality services.
....last thing to check and job done. JRS - tested quality - an engineering approach to carburettor overhaul and restoration services.
Ducati 900 Supersport carburettor in for CO. This is a troublesome application, but it is generally not the fault of the carburettor, which is an established Weber component.
The problem in this Ducati application is not the carburettor, but the pump that supplies fuel. This component is incapable of supplying volume fuel at a steady pressure so this deficiency has to be addressed. First though, we need a comprehensively overhauled carburettor, properly adjusted...
... and here it is, with a fuel pressure regulator that needs to be calibrated and set to control pump output to 2 psi and 2.5psi max.
Properly installed the carburettor and the regulator should provide a resolution to the massive richness and flooding which tends to be a feature. Again, this is not a criticism of the DCNF - Ferrari and others know it to be a first class piece of kit.
Pair of Mikunis from a 1994 600 Ducati Monster, in for CO.
Initial inspection shows usual mess and rust....
...and a missing idle mixture screw blanking plug. This could mean trouble ahead....
and internally, what else?
Nothing else. Here we see one carburettor already dismantled, overhauled and reassembled. The constituent parts of the other have been cleaned and inspected ...........
... and, as expected, here is the seized idle mixture screw. This one is in brass and as such, when corrosion gets into the threaded recess, it soon locks up. The blanking plugs are fitted to prevent this happening. So, some time on the Bridgeport should resolve this difficulty and a new screw will be required.
These removal operations can be an absolute pain- access is never simple and adequately supporting the work in a Bridgeport is seldom straightforward. Anyway, here is the machined body.....
...and the debris - the remains of the screw, the spring, washer and O ring untouched. Most important however is that the 6 x .5 thread in the body is sound and the appropriate tap has removed the corrosion that caused the trouble.
Completed work, fuel tested.
Same set. The bag contains the replaced screws and the machining remains.
Yamaha FZS 600 carburettors in for CO.
Completed and fuel tested. JRS: tested quality carburettor services.
1989 ZX10 carburettors in for CO. They look OK.
Completed fuel tested work. The 2 float valve bodies at the top of the pic are worth looking at.
Here they are in all their glory. Someone couldn't get them out without permanently damaging them. That's OK, but the replacements, including needles came to £90.04!!!!!!!! Expensive DIY on someone's part.
Kawasaki KMX carburettor at JRS for CO : usual exterior dirt as expected.

...complete and fuel tested.
Bank of Mikunis from a Yamaha FZ400RR at JRS for CO and the replacement of a damaged fuel T piece.
Work complete and tested. A word of warning - the Yamaha cost of the new T piece and the filter that fits inside was £39.94!!!!!!!!!!! Bowls 3 and 4 carry some internal damage but fuel tests indicate that they are sound and useable.
Lovely set of flat slides Mikunis from a 1500 mile GSXR1100 at JRS for CO.
Complete and tested but top support bar the wrong way around!!
Pair of Mikunis from a TDM850. Usual problems internally, plus needle and needle valve wear. Parts cost £140!! - 2 needle packs, 2 main jet O rings and 2 nozzles, as Mr Yamaha likes to call them.
So, CO completed, new parts sourced and fitted and the completed assembly fuel tested. JRS = a tested engineering approach to carburettor overhaul.
KTM carburettor: customer concerned that gobs of water had contaminated the internals. Opened, all OK and returned. No charge.
