My company sent me to Las Vegas for a conference. Elaine came along so we could treat this like a vacation.

March 29, 2012 - Cee Cee James Band - Blues City Deli

Picked the only reasonable spot in the place to place a tripod and camera - in the corner next to the restroom. I was probably asked 50 times in 2 hours ... "Is there somebody in there?" I've been in worse conditions for getting video footage. Wanted to get all sound from the performance from the mixer, but it turned out only the microphone was going through it . Plan B was to put the WAV recorder on a nearby table. Speakers were so loud, I had to put the WAV recorder on AGC and used my mp3 player ear buds as ear plugs.

Shawnee National Forest - Paul and Elaine hike - 9/21/11

Elaine and I stayed the previous evening in Murfreesboro, IL so we could get an early start today. Hiked the Little Grand Canyon Trail (opposite the recommended way), then the short Pamona natural bridge trail. Then we hunted some geocaches. After stopping at an apple orchard and winery near Alto Pass, IL, we headed home.

First Annual Eureka, Missouri Mardi Growl Dog Parade

First real opportunity for me to try out my new Canon 7D camera and lenses. Expected about a dozen dogs and owners due to the newness of the event and the somewhat cold weather. Instead, the weather was pleasant and I would guess a couple thousand people showed up! If you want a high-resolution copy of any of these images at no charge - send me an email. Paulz AEP Boat Ride - Nov. 8, 2008

These pictures are from my trip on an AEP fleet boat. As part of my employee orientation at AEP River Operations, I scheduled a ride on an AEP fleet boat (Noble C. Parsonage) - leaving St. Louis and heading south. First stop would be at APAC Brickeys - about 30 river miles. I arrived at Osage Fleet at 6am, got on the boat at 6:30am. We had 13 barges in tow by 10:30am, then waited on 1 more barge for * 6 hours *! We left at 4:30pm. From what Bobby and I arranged, I was scheduled to get off the Noble and get a ride to shore by an APAC Brickeys boat at 9pm. That's when I told Elaine to picke me up at an agreed upon location. Liittle did I know I would have to wait in the APAC boat for 2 1/2 more hours while it finished putting more barges on the Noble C. Parsonage tow! Parkpalooza - St. Louis Arch Grounds - SLAGA Tent and Course

The National Park Service (NPS) approached SLAGA a few months ago to participate in this 1st annual event showcasing creative arts and the outdoors. Unfortunately, this event coinsided with the SLAGA Fall Picnic. Those who passed on the picnic to serve the public were Rich, Dave, Dan, Mike and Paul, who were able to educate at last 350 visitors - a wonderful showing. These images were taken on Saturday. The event lasts through Sunday. Besides activity around our tent, I have photos of baby bison, Civil War recreation, sand sculpting (with pictures of Island-Dave), birds from Bird Sanctuary and some Mississippi River traffic.
