Arrived at Antelope, a little nervous of what my visit my bring....
Yup, Antelope hasn't changed much.
A big surprise, the road into the Ranch is now fully paved.
My first view into the valleys of the ranch.
The entrance of what used to be 'Desiderata'.
A-frames in the Desiderata valley.
When I was last here in 1993 this is where I camped, looking out over Krishnamurti Lake.
The cattle are are all over now, this one near Krishnamurti Lake.
Krishnamurti Lake.
Some of the beautiful rock formations and flowers just before arriving at the 'Welcome Centre' (which is no longer there).
What's left of the fire station and peace force building. This where I met up with Jay, the fire chief from Maddras, who spends a lot of time on the Ranch now.
A distant view of RBG, More inside shots later.
The new fire station, housed in what used to be the school bus repair garage.
Big Muddy Fire Brigade....
Jay on the left and Terry next to him, who is now the sole mechanic in the old RBG building. Both of them were so friendly and looked very happy and content.
Inside RBG
Inside RBG, what used to be the 'small machines repair area' Arupam's domain.
Boyz toyz being manufactured, nothing much has changed....
This is the room I used to work in from time to time with Pashupati and Kensho, rebuilding engines. It is now used to repair vacuum cleaners and the like.
This the festival kitchen site. The painting is an artists impression of further expansion that is planned for the area.
One of the new buildings between 'The Hotel' and 'The Mandir'. I can't remember what this building is used for, sorry.
There are now extensive lawns and gardens in the whole area between the hotel end the Mandir, it is the main campus and area of activities.
A new multimedia entertainment centre, also located between the hotel and the Mandir.
Swimming pool and natural swimming lake. The lake has two flying foxes going into it from WAY across the valley, looked like heaps of fun!
The whole Ranch is there for camps for teen-agers, this sculpture reflects the mood and vibe of the place. I have to say it warmed my heart....
More of the pool area.
The next three photo's are all taken inside The Mandir. Here a climbing wall.
Pool tables, table hockey, table tennis, etc, etc.
Basket ball courts, volley ball and many other sporting facilities, including an indoor skate-board park. I had forgotten how big this building is and how awesome the view is from the end windows....
Looking back from the Mandir towards the Hotel area.
The whole outside of the Mandir has been covered in this natural stone, even the long sides.... Looks stunning. From here I was taken back to my car, the guided tour over. The next photo's I have taken as I drove through and out again.
This is the RIMU building, the gardens are the original ones. The building looks like crap but is ear marked for renovation and will be used again.
The original ranch buildings, from way before we were even there.
I used to live in this house and now I cannot remember our name for it.... Anyone else remember? Puneeta has just emailed me to say "It was called Nagarjuna". Thank you Puneeta!
A landmark many of you will remember, now it has the name of the new owners on it: "Washington Family Ranch". This is where they host their 'Young Life' programs for teen-agers.
The old original Big Muddy Ranch barn.
View towards the festival kitchen site.
Yours truely, looking back towards the mall area in the rear-view mirror.
A horse corral in front of the legal and administration building, I forget what it was called.... Any takers? Qadin: It is/was called Zarathustra.
The start of the road that Osho used to drive: "Mevlana Bhagwan Drive", the road to Patanjali lake and the pine forrest.
The corner where Pythagoras was, the start of the county road towards Mitchell. After trying to find the site of the trailer I stayed in here I actually drove on towards Mitchell on this road, more in the following photo's....
All that's left of one of the Pythagoras trailer homes... not sure this was the one I stayed in, I think 'mine' had the entrance on the other side, but who can tell now....
Now I am about a mile past Pythagoras on the road to Mitchell, looking back towards the Ranch.
I spotted many deer but only managed to photograph this one.
The road was pretty poor at times and I was very aware of what it would mean if I got stuck in my little Ford Focus (see later), a looooong hike!
Judging by the 'No Trespassing' sign carrying the name 'Washington Family Ranch', I am still on the Ranch property here, about four or five miles past Pythagoras!
My little car, dwarfed by the tumble weeds.
Now I am on a neighboring farm, The Cherry Creek Ranch. Not sure why it is called that, the river has a different name (according to the map I have).
More beautiful views.
What to say, it was just gorgeous out there....
A little farm/ranch house, dwarfed by the majesty of the landscape.
These are the 'Painted Hills' of the "John Day Fossil Beds National Monument", about five miles before I got to Mitchell.
I met up with a member of a photo-club who were there on an excursion. We exchanged our cameras and photographed each other, rather fun.
Couldn't help myself... just so beautiful.
Same place, looking the other direction....
Finally arrived in Mitchell, just on dark
The lobby of the hotel.
The local restaurant where all but me were hunters who all talked about their day and what they had shot and managed to bring back home.
