Housing Disparities and the Financial Crisis: Chicago's History Repeats Itself Panelists discussed how predatory lending practices and the financial crisis have exacerbated urban housing disparities. Panelists also explored the extent to which recent mortgages resemble housing contracts offered to black families in Chicago during the 1960s and 1970s.
