In the morning we ran to see Kensington Gardens, which was not far from our hotel. Then Natasha went to meet with her students and I took Sasha to the Zoo at Regents Park, which had a quite modest exhibition. We finished the day with a dinner at a restaurant on the Piccadilly Circus.

Sasha and I spent most of the second day alone, just the two of us - Natasha was teaching her students. We started the day early by a ride in a tourist double-decker. Sasha used the ride as an opportunity to catch up on her sleep while I was taking numerous pics of the sights we've passed.

This was an unexpected trip to London. Natasha went there to co-teach a seminar for her students and we just decided to tag along for an extended week-end. On the day of arrival we visited Westminster Abbey and then went to see a musical called Wicked.

This year we had a small but nice party at our place for the New Year. Sasha and Irina from Amherst were our only guests. Our little Sasha fell asleep on the floor about 10 minutes before the New Year arrived.

We spent Christmas quietly qith just the three of us hanging around the house, going for a nice walk in the town, and then took Sasha for a leasson in skiing on Wachusett Mountain. She was a quick learlner and after just 1 hours leasson was skiing down the kiddie slope. On the next day she was already skiing down the real Green slope mountain and using a real lift chair!

Old Colorado City is a small town located at the base of Pikes Peak. We heard that Colorado had good Mexican restaurants so we found one in Colorado City and dinner there. The food was great and the decor was cozy and colorful. And I loved a huge margarita drink!

Pikes Peak is an over 4000 feet mountain near Colorado Springs. There's a paved automobile road and a railroad going up to the very peak. We drove our Yukon there - about 20 miles ride one way. One the way back we had to stop because our breaks got overheated.

Colorado Rocky Mountain National Park offers endless trails through the gorgeous montains, forests, and lakes. We had a chance to hike there for a few hours. At the end of the album there are photos of wild deers that just came to the town common of Estes Park to graze.

Dinosaur Ridge is a place in the state of Colorado where they found well preserved bones and foot prints of real dinasaurs. There used to be a sea around the Rocky Mountains during the time of dinasaurs.

Salem, Ma is a small town infamous for the vicious witch hunts. Now it capitalizes on its fame by holding numerous zombi and witch events for Halloween. At the end of the album there are a few pics from Birghton, MA - a walk before out Math class in the morning.

Our friends Sasha and Irina invited us to stay at a place they got for a week-end in Falmouth, MA, which is at the base of Cape Cod. We came on Saturday, stayed overnight, and on Sunday drove to the very end of Cape Cod to cycle in the dunes near Provincetown.

After Bruge we drove to the shore of the North Sea at Ostend. We knew nothing about it, but we wanted to see the sea. At the end of the day we had a wonderful meal in a restaurant. The fish soup that I ordered was honestly the best of Europe!

We spent the fourth day of our trip in the city of Brussels in Belgium. We didn't want to have a hastle with the car so we took a train from Antwerp. Brussels is both old and contemporary, a really nice city. We liked it a lot!

We spent only two days in Amsterdam, after which we drove to Belgium. On the way to Antwerpen we stopped for sightseeing at a place called Zaans in Holland. This is a small town with a museum of windmills and craft cabins.

We spent the second day of our visit to Europe in Amsterdam in Holland. The whole day we were walking along the endless canals, visited the Red Light district, bought some souvenirs. We had a nice meal at an Argentinian steak house and then had a fancy desert at one of the cafes.

This is the first day of our stop over in Europe on the way to Russia. This time we visited Holland and Belgium. We arrived to Amsterdam and this album is made of the photos we took during our first day there - it is the day when we arrived from Boston. We took a boat tour on the cannals and then walked around the center of the city.

201105: ALBUM3: OUR FIRST TRIATHLONS

The month of May also became special because of my and Sasha's first ever triathlon competitions, which happened on two consecutive days (Sat, May 7th, and Sun, May 8th) in town of Sudbury, MA. Sasha finished and got a medal. My overall time ranked 125th out of about 530 participants.

201105: ALBUM2: BOSTON WALK FOR HUNGER

On May 1, in Boston, there was a 20 mile walk dedicated to fighting hunger. All three of us partiocipated as a part of Sasha's school team and we were among the few who walked the whole distance! Sasha walked 23km by herself and I carried her on my back for about the last 10km. The time couldn't have been better for such a walk - everything was in bloom and the day was perfect!

This is my first very long ride on a bicycle - 110km long. It's been freezing when we started early in the morning but it got a little better later on. I was so tired at the end and I couldn't imagine that I'd ever want to ride for a longer distance.

Boston College is a Jesuit University in Newton, MA. I went there part time to get my MBA. This time we were just driving by and decided to stop for a quick walk around its campus. Then we went to spend some time in a nice park in Boston, right next to the Charles River. This is a popular place for joggers and dog walkers.

Ogunquit is a small resort town in the state of Maine. It is my favorite of all beach destinations in New England. Provincetown, MA - is a town located at the very tip of Cape Code - the elephant trunc of the state of Massachusetts. The town is know nationwide for its liberal values. This year we went there to celebrate our 11 year marriage anniversary.

We spent our final day in the UK visiting the Windsor Castle, which is the current residence of the Queen. We also stopped by at the Baker Street to pay tributes to the famous detective Holmes. We finished the day with a walk in a huge Regency Park nearby followed by a dinner in a cosy restaurant. Good bye, London!

We spent our third day of the trip to England in Oxford, which is over an hour away from London. Our friend Lesha drove us there in his car and spent the whole long day with us in Oxford sightseeing. We also met some fellows from Umass, Amherst there. When I told them that we were also Umass alumni, they let us tour around one of the colleges inspite of it being closed for a special event. For me visiting Oxford was probably the best part of the whole London trip.

Visiting London has been a long time dream both for Natasha and me. While studying English in Russia, one reads a lot about England and London and getting there becomes a mind fixture. Well, here we are, in London, walking around all those iconic images like Westminster Abbey and Hyde Park. This is our first of the four days that we spent there. We had just arrived from the USA. It was early in the day so we couldn't even check into a hotel yet - we just left our luggage there and went sightseeing.
