Isfjorden Radio Harbour
Isfjorden Radio. Old radio station at the outermost tip of Isfjorden. Now a hotel. In front a raised beach ridge.
Griegsaksla. Both sides are my new field area for avalanche observations. note the big scree slopes on its foot.
patterned ground, polygon circles. the white colour indicates that those were wet.
lunchbreak
frost sorting
low centered circles. a complex thing
high centered polygons with ice wedges underneath
frost weathering of the outcropping bed rock
in front of the Solifluction station
sophisticated solifluction measurements on the solifluction lobe beneath Griegsaksla
crazy bedrock
mystic mountains
Hanne and Zoe offloading shock loggers
Hanne at work
Nivation site. here we drilled a almost 3 m deep borehole and I placed temperature loggers. no vegetation indicates a thick and long-lasting snow cover from snow drifting
First we had to dig a hole to reach the permafrost table. My favorite work. (pic by Hanne)
afterwards the hand drilling. also fun. (pic by Hanne)
finally, the plastic tube with the temperature loggers went into the hole. finished. (pic by Hanne)
the drill site and my snow temperature logging stick. almost as good as Ullis installations.
resistivity measurments. how much ice is in the ground?
Havard, our post doc and Zoe our master student
