Pretty much the best part of the trip. Iberia Air business class. The seats reclined to about 95% flat. I only wish I took advantage of them. I ended up watching movies instead.
There was even a camera on the verticle stabilizer to watch the plane take off and land. Cool!
The Coliseum
And the Coliseum again. This time from a little further away
This guy and his buddy tried to charge me 10 euro to take 3 pictures with my camera!
I ended up giving them 3 euro. They weren't very good pictures anywaze.
They weren't too happy, but neither did they protest too much
A fountain in Rome. One of many
Another fountain, but this one was in front of the Spanish Steps
A little closer shot of the fountain in front of the Spanish Steps
The Spanish Steps of course
One of many such structures in Rome
With some pretty fancy sculpture
A side view of the Trevi Fountain. Mostly showing the throngs of people
A much better view of the Trevi Fountain
I'm pretty sure this is St Peters Basilica in the Vatican
Definitely St. Peters Basilica
This was a shot taken from the top floor of the Uffizi Gallery
The Forum walk in Rome
The Coliseum inside
And yet another view of the Coliseum inside
We got this close to St Peter's Basilica, but decide against going in. There were just too many people, and the line stretched for miles (well at least a very long way).
A bridge over the River Arno in Florence, close to our hotel
Another bridge over the River Arno. As you can see they pretty much all look alike
A crowded street in Florence.
Another bridge in Florence. Or is just another view of the same bridge?
Another bridge but with the entrance to the Uffizi Gallery on the left
Boboli Gardens in the Pitti Palace in Florence. Not really much of a garden
More Boboli Gardens
A view of Florence from Boboli Gardens
Another view of Florence and the Pitti Palace from the Boboli Gardens
Another statue commemorating someone
Our hotel is on the left, but I acutally think I was taking a picture of the skuller. Hopefully this caption isn't covering the skuller on your computer, like it is mine.
You can see the Ponte Vecchio in the far distance
There is a much better view of the Ponte Vecchio, the most famous bridge in Florence. Not sure exactly why, since it simply lined with jewelry store.
These people are amazing. They just stand there motionless until someone gives them some money.
Anything for a buck (euro) I guess
Finally the country side in Tuscany. Not sure where this is though
More countryside
This was a view from Romitoria di Serelle where we stayed in Tuscany
A typical road to a winery. About 2 Km long only wide enough for one car, and this was the good section of the road
The same road, just a slightly wider angle.
A little street in a Tuscan village. I think it was in Voltera.
The ceramic shop in Castelini in Chiant, where we ordered a bunch of stuff, which hasn't arrived as of 10/8.
This must have been in Voltera
Again in Voltera. As you can tell, it did rain a little that day
The entrance to Voltera
Another view of the country side. It was just a little hazy that day
And yet another view of the country side
And still another view of the country side in Tuscany
Country side in Tuscany. I just loved the country side as you might be able to tell. It was beautiful, no matter where you looked.
This is San Gimignano
Again San Gimignano. We actually didn't get into San Gimignano. We got there too late and couldn't find parking
A distant view of San Gimignano
Civita. My favorite place in Italy
Civita, with a slightly different perspective
The walk up to Civita, which is only accessible by foot bridge. It's a lot steeper then it looks, and it was a long way down.
They love their flowers in Italy
More flowers, but the next picture is better
The same as the previous picture, but with more flowers
A shot of the countryside from Civita
Again, another shot of the country side from Civita
Wouldn't you like to live here? Or at least vacation for a week here. That's what all the rich Italians are doing.
Another view from Civita
And another view from Civita.
This is the bell from our B&B in Bagnoregio. It rang constantly from 7 AM to 7 PM every day
The local police station in Bagnoregio
A view of Civita, as the sun started to set
An even more dramatic view of Civita
4 old local Italian ladies gossiping in Bagnoregio. I think they were talking about me!
Edie on a street in Bagnoregio
This has to be on the way to Orvieto
Or it might have been Montalcino
A church in Orvieto. The intracy of the sculpture in the building is beautiful
A closer view of the sculpture in the Church in Orvieta
Back in Rome again. This is the Plazzo Venezia. The picture doesn't do it justice.
The Pantenon
The Panthenon again.
Inside the Panthenon
This would have been a good shot inside the Panthenon, except for it being just a little blurry.
Another fountain in Rome
Don't know what this building was, but it was probably a church. There are a lot of churches in Italy
This is the Piazza Navona. Probably the nicest piazza we came across, at least IMO. There were street musicians, lots of artists, and of course lots of places to eat and relax.
A good shot of Rome, walking to or from the Piazza Navona.
A horse in Florence. I took this one for Becky
Civita again
More of the Italian country side
Where esle? Civita of course
Edie climbing up to the entrance of Civita. She wasn't particularly happy I took this picture
And the show wouldn't be complete without a picture of me on someones steps in Civita
