Starting out going east on Main St.
A lot of people were waiting to be picked for work around here. It was about 11am at this point, and there were more people out when we first arrived around 9am.
Looking down the street towards the train overpass.
Mac brought her dog on the walk :)
I noticed a lot of small, older delis and breakfast/lunch places.
Boarded up building on the left
Muriel's looks recently closed.
We saw no other dogs on our walk and no dog poop. People also seemed either excited or afraid to see a dog.
Pretty old building, with some sections boarded up. The sign above the doors on the left says 'Masonic Temple.'
There seemed to be a lot of liquor stores along Main St.
A lot of shoe stores too.
Many for rent signs, both for storefronts and for residences.
Stained glass and ornate details around the windows
Looking towards the park in the center strip of Main St.
Church
Video store. The sign in the window announces an event that happened in 2007.
The one marker in the park dedicated to the 'abolishment of war.'
Used to be some sort of box around the flagpole, maybe to hold flyers or pamphlets?
A string of stores perpendicular to Main St., with a parking lot in front.
Pretty trees, but no flowers or additional landscaping.
This is the side of the building that faces Main St. Note that there are no direct pedestrian pathways there. Also note the payphones on the right, something you don't see in a lot of places in New York City any more.
Busy intersection. Public transportation. And McDonald's.
Fenced off and boarded up building.
The last segment of the park. Fewer businesses along Main St. from here on out.
This looks like a nursing home to me, but there was no sign and I couldn't figure it out for sure. The whole place is fenced off.
Beautiful old, well-maintained house, now being used as a funeral home.
Pretty old church
Looks like there used to be a sidewalk across the park, just for the mansion that's now a funeral home.
Grief support. This building seems so oddly placed to me. It looks like someone dropped a concrete block in front of an old Victorian home.
Multi-family residences. There were fewer people at this end of Main St.
The sidewalk ends and leads nowhere, to no crosswalk, just into the street.
Empty storefronts, followed by two empty lots.
This is the entrance to a daycare.
Boarded up house.
Christmas wreath on the door and it's April.
There used to be stairs and an open gate here.
Where you would walk to cross under the train and over the highway.
I think this would be such a beautiful place for a garden.
It looks like there were wooden stairs here that have since been cemented over, and the whole spot has been fenced off.
You can see the foundation of a building, but I couldn't tell anything about what it used to be.
Pretty old building. Sheets being used as curtains.
The empty lot on the other side of the street, also a potentially great spot for a garden.
I didn't understand this pathway, or what the original thought was behind it.
Hat store (there used to be a hat factory in Orange)
Lots of children's shoe stores.
I liked the bright yellow building, but someone else later called it an eye sore :)
There were a lot of plots like this that looked like they were supposed to have a tree in them, but didn't.
Large building, cemented off.
Brick patterns in the sidewalk on the west end of Main St.
Looking towards the train station.
Alma waking up :)
Alma smiles with her whole self :)
