Snow in March
Snow is on the ground and its 43 days until the 2008 plant sale? Yep, Mother Nature reminded us again that she can be fickle in March. On the evening of March 26th, a snow storm blanketed the Arboretum with an inch of snow, creating some picturesque settings on the grounds. Plants seem to be comfortably resting in the Nursery - waiting for better weather and the upcoming plant sale.

Office Construction
This set of pictures will show the construction of the Arboretum office from project start to project finish (currently the project is still in work). The office is being contructed by modifiying and refurbishing what used to be the Nursery shed. The office will be used for Arboretum management activities - housing Arboretum office equipment and files. The office will have telepone service and will also have a restroom. Although business will not be conducted at the Gaffney house located near the Lake Wilderness Lodge, some files and other arboretum equipment will continue to be housed there.

Head house
This is a set of photos showing the development of the Nursery's "Head House" in late 2007 through early 2008. This building was initially called a "hoop house" based on its shape, but the term "Head House" is now used to indicate that this building serves as headquarters for the Nursery. The front part of the head house is heated so that the Nursery group called "TWIGS" can use the facility year round for potting and propagating plants. It will also periodically be used for hosting workshops.
