Greek Daisies
Ayia Irene, South Chania District
The view from our roof.
Greek agriculture (those are avocado trees).
Organic farming? This was an "organic" farm where the farmer produced "organic" peppers and tomatoes in a greenhouse that he shipped to Holland and other northern European countries. Not exactly my definition of organic farming.
Another photo of the "organic" tomato greenhouse.
At least we were having a good time!
Leaf miner damage in the "organic" greenhouse.
Another example of agriculture in Crete - orange trees this time.
Olive tree propagation.
This Maher, Vlahoyannis and Zahier (left to right). Vlahoyannis is explaining how a fungus affects roses before it affects the grapes, so they plant roses at the end of the rows to know if they need to treat the grapes to prevent against infection or not.
More grapes (for wine).
More grapes.

A house in town
A day at the beach...
about a 20 minute walk from our house
with nice sunsets and sand...
And a very strange carnival nearby.
Woofy, the neighborhood dog (and scapegoat - the yayas and kids are always yelling at poor Woofy), seeking momentary refuge in our apartment. Coincidentally, we picked up a children's cartoon titled "Woofy" to assist in our (pitifully inept) Greek language skills.
Pest control...
This photo was taken in the middle of August - after months and months with no rain. And yet this tree was covered with little droplets of water. I believe it was a Cypress tree, but I have yet to understand this excess moisture.
What we bought from the market for 6 euro. EVERYTHING is grown here - amazing....bananas and broccoli same island same time of year!
Dave doing dishes by candlelight - a common occurrence during the strikes.
Boats docked in Chania marina.
Dave thought this was really funny......Ass Bottom Boat...
Chania harbor
Mountains covered in snow - another roof shot.
This was taken by a friend of ours - our Spanish photographer Jose.
