Kit is going for a walk, because she is going to check out the ice rink! It's not really an ice rink, but it's a huge soccer field (actually, eight soccer fields put together) that floods and freezes during the winter. It's our own private skating rink!
"Oh, good! I'm almost there! The walk is long when you're my height!" Kit grinned as she approached the rink.
"Yay! I made it!" Kit was excited to try skating, even though she had no skates. She had never been skating before...
She had seen figure skating on television, and she decided that it didn't look that hard. So she jumped right onto the ice and started to move towards the smooth portion of ice...
...and she fell. "Ouch! That hurt," Kit muttered unhappily to herself.
But soon she was up again, and even with the wind blowing in her face, she could soon move a few feet without falling over!
"Hooray! I made it halfway across the rink! Soon, I'll be ready for the Olympics! I'll win a gold medal! Do you think I can go to Vancouver 2010?"
Kit was exhausted from her hard work, and her friends were calling her. They had started a game of hide-and-go-seek! Kit hurried off the ice to find a hiding spot.
"Can you find me?"
"Darn it! You're too good at this!" Kit decided that it was time for one last skate before he headed home.
So she carefully stepped onto the ice...
CRACK! "Oh, no! I think I'm finished skating for today. Mum won't be happy when she sees how wet my boots are!"
Kit was dripping wet as pulled herself out of the newly-made hole and headed for home.
She stopped to rest on a rock part of the way there. "I love feeling the wind on my face... don't you love being outside?"
"Thanks for coming skating with me! See you soon!"
